I know it is a hard thing to do, but it is worth it in the long run. "It is now proved beyond doubt that smoking is one of the leading causes of statistics." ~~ Fletcher Knebel, Reader's Digest, December 1961.

Camel has/is coming out with cig alturnitives. Still got the nicotine but your not smoking. They have sheets, orbs, and sticks. Each one is equal to 1 smoke. Kits going to try it and see if it works. She is a social smoker. She does it weather she needs it or not with a crowd.

The single hardest thing I've ever done! But also the BEST thing I've ever done for myself. Support such as that found here is invaluable. A good place to get it is quitnet.com and I wish you great success and a life of freedom....

/GEEK ALERT I wrote some custom PHP and a simple shell script on my home Linux server that generates a new image every minute from the day and hour I quit smoking, then I put that image in my signature on the forum, when you hit the forum it pulls the current image from my server, which should be accurate to the minute when you're seeing it. If you've got a Linux server I could give you the files, but it's a ugly kludge... if you give me the day/month/year and time you had your last cigarette I'll happily set one up for you, it's pretty easy for me to add extras... (Standard disclaimers apply, if my site's down or my server crashes, all I owe ya' is an apology, etc. etc. etc... ) P.S. Check out my signature from my other obsession, my saltwater reef aquarium. All the stats are also live to the latest minute: (Sorry to wander off topic a hair, but I figure if a little toy like this can help keep me motivated to stay quit, it might help someone else stay motivated to stay quit, so what the heck, it can't hurt, right?) Wow.... appreciate the offer, but no need to establish a program or script for me. I had my last one on March 25th 2007 about 10pm. I have had urges and been tempted a few times, but I know if I ever try one.... that will probably do me in and I steer clear of that. I don't even visit the VFW too much anymore because of the smoke clouds. Now it's time to work on that extra weight packed on as a result.....

Fudgie, just and FYI. The nicotine in cigarettes constricts blood vessels. If you have plaque in your arteries (and you do), you have even less space for blood to flow and less space to be filled by the plaque. It aint just the smoke!

My mom was to for 12 or so years, right up to when small cell lung cancer got her. If she doesnt need it, then ask her to stop. I quit snuff about 4.5 years ago.
