bought a high output altenator from MARS last fall. well it quit with less than 500 miles on it..sent it back to him because he said it would be a full warrentee.. got it back tonight and e-mailed him about what the problem was. he e-mailed me back and told me that the capacitor was hooked up backwards and it fried the rotor and i oughta be thankful he's such a nice guy and took care of it free of charge. well i got to looking at the components of the altenator and it lists no capacitor. and 2nd..theres no way you can hook one of these altenators up wrong. if thats the type of man he is..i will be doing no further business with him. he made it sound like it was my fault it went out
heres what the altenator was like when i first recieved it..i tried spinning it by hand..very difficult to do because it was binding up in 2 places. called him and he claimed it was the extra coating they put on it to seal the wires. said it would wear off..in my opinion.. this altenator went out because those tight spots beat the inside of this altenator up and probably exposed some wiring by breaking the windings. but i can't prove that..going to put it back on tomarrow night and see what happens..hope it lasts awhile this time. any body else have any experience with this guy..

Mine has worked perfectly for the past 20K miles. It is the high output one also.

funny thing is valker..i installed running lights on my crashbars a couple of weeks ago..and when i would turn them on..my altenator would drop from 14.2 to 13.5..and stay there..for a high output..it should've picked the voltage right back up again..but it would'nt..

Mine is not a high output.  Worked perfectly for the last 18 months/6,500 miles.

Don't know what to tell you.

I put on an older year Gold Wing.   Had to rotate the one cap a little, Works great.........      Never have had any luck with these souped up alternators....

I have a basic stock chrome one on the Chevy Trike.    Actually what we did was degut my chrome one, bought a new one from one of our part suppliers at the shop.   Took that one apart and put it innards in my Chrome one an said to heck with it.........      I have no swapped pratically all the bulbs out for LED's so not as much draw now........
