I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.

I laugh, and that guy IS an idiot but.....
...I was in my early 20's... Didn't know squat about guns other than that I liked 'em. Had my first "REAL" job, and was making REALLY good money at the time, no bills, living at home, no expenses...
Walked into my local gun shop and said "I want your most powerful rifle in stock, with your most powerful scope mounted on it, sight it in, and I'll be in to pick 'em up and pay cash when it's ready."
A few days later I was the proud owner of a Remington 700 in 7mm Remington Magnum.
I'd never shot any rifle more powerful than an SKS in 7.62x39 up to this point.
Went to the range, load it, line up... Then think woah... This is gonna hurt. I better pull the butt AWAY from my shoulder an inch or two...
Then I proceed to put the scope right up on my eye...
.........and pulled the trigger...
THAT was a VERY WELL learned lesson, I tell ya'... I've NEVER made either of those two mistakes ever again! That was nearly 15+ years ago now, and still hurts just remembering that pull of the trigger...

what a freaking idiot LOL Oh not at you Serk... unless I had a video of it Sry man. Just had to poke at ya. Same thing happened to a friend of mine. He got a 7mm Mag and I said... shoot that rock down there. He was holding it all loose and BAM the scope cut the crap out of his eyebrow. I laughed and yelled hurry up shoot it left handed and see if ya can hit that rock. He was holding his nose and eye and looked at me like he could kill me. I said HURRY. He ask why and I told him that I figured if I could get him to do that one more time he might just give me that rifle. The rest of us thought it was funny... just not him LOL

My older brother took a scope to the forehead first time he fired my .50 BMG. No scar,but...MAN! did it bleed! He is no stranger to high powered rifles, knows better and needed no guidance. just a Sh!% happens kind of deal. All he could mutter was "thank good for that muzzle brake! "

He had to let that thing go as soon as he pulled the trigger. Newton says you could hold it if you tried.

About 30 years ago I was teaching a DNR hunter safety class at the local Isaac Walton League. I had a group of newly minted graduates. One man had his son with him. I asked the father's permission to let his son fire the demonstration rifle. He said OK. I had his son sit at the bench and I went through the important ritual of holding the rifle tight against the shoulder and keeping eyes at least three inches away from the scope. We tried a number of dry runs and i kept mentioning that the rifle recoil wouldn't hurt. ( a true statement). When he was ready I loaded the rifle with one round, having told the son to keep his finger outside the trigger guard. I double checked his stance and asked hin if he was ready. He said he was so I took off the safety, did one last check and told the boy to squeeze the trigger when he had a steady target sight picture. He fired and the gallon jug of water at the 100 yard line immediately blew to smithereens! He was all smiles and his Dad was so proud! It also was a good demonstration for all the other hunters. The Rifle was a model 77 Ruger with a Weaver 4x scope, chambered for the 7MM Remington Magnum. The boy was SIX YEARS OLD. I will never forget the smile on that boy's face! It's a sad commentary on society when I say that I wouldn't do that today.

I introduced both of my sons to the proper care and use of firearms at a very young age as well. I hope to do the same with my grandson when he comes of age. I really do fear what our country and it's society are evolving into. Or should I say, brainwashed by those who seem to be bent on turning the populous into dependent sheep. Don't get me started!!

...for what it's worth... My daughter IS getting a good grounding in basic firearms education, unlike me... Sorry to those that have seen it before (Yeah, proud daddy syndrome) but she was shooting an AR15 (Admittedly on my shoulder) at 6... And her own .22 on her own shoulder (Disclaimer, that was a "picture pose", not a "shooting pose"!) And no, I don't really fault my dad for my lack of firearms training growing up, he was just never that interested in guns...
