First the good news.

My riding buddy is alright!!  Not a physical scratch on him, although he’s got several
severe bruises on his legs and he’s quite shaken up.

Now, the bad.

An elderly man, pulled out in front of him causing him to T-bone his back end.  His cycle
hit the trunk area while he flew over it and landed on the pavement.  His cycle had both
front forks bent back a tad, but was still in good enough condition to be ridden home.
Right engine guard bent back, windshield smashed, right mirror gone, radiator bent, and
several other things I’m sure we don’t know of yet.  I believe his helmet did an
excellent job, considering the gash left behind from the asphalt would have been in his
skull.

Apparently he came over a crest of a hill when this old guy first pulled out in front of
him, and then quickly turned left into his driveway never checking his rear view mirror,
or looking to the left before turning onto the road.

Ouch!  Shocked

Glad he's gonna be OK...

Head on a swivel...  They're all trying to kill us.

Glad everything turned out as good as it did.

I've always had a theory. All persons, both young and old, should ride a motorcycle on the street for one year. This would do two things.

It would get rid of those, by obvious means, that drive with no clue and with their digit or cranium firmly inserted in their rectum.

It would give the end of year survivors an understanding that riding or driving might be a full time job.

As an aside, I personally give Buicks with handicapped license plates, plenty of room.

He walks away feeling like a traitor to fellow old geezer or geezerettes.

A real motorcycle that would smoke your ass !

If I wanted to ride a cycle for speed, I’d get an R1, or something to that effect.  But, since this is an adult forum, and the people here have seen their share of idiots that can’t handle the speed that such sport bikes are capable of, we tend to enjoy the open road and live about it.

By the way, when was the last time you heard of someone riding a sport bike across country?  Nothing more comfortable then having your knees  crammed up to your chest for 100 miles, let alone 3000!!

Sounds like what happened to Nitrojunkie330 aka Karsten

Man should go out and buy a lottery ticket immediately if not sooner.

He is a real good rider too  It can happen to anyone and Karsten was one lucky Valker

Dont want to sound like an old man but never ride beyond what you can stop in   I will let everyone pass me if I dont know for sure what is around the bend. color me chicken if it makes you feel better

So many times folks fly over hills or around blind turns and there is something there

Just  an hour ago a new client (rides Honda sport bike) was telling me about a young man he saw who was cut in half by a box truck disabled on I95  He was riding at full legal speed (+ a healthy amount) rounded the turn and no place to go but the rear gate.

just saying..
