Farmers has great prices, but don't sell in NJ. I had them for years in Colorado and the Valk was about $170/year full coverage. I have Foremost now....so far I'm satisfied. All three of our bikes are insured with them. Got tired of State Farm raising rates and I never got a reasonable quote ever from Progressive.

+1 on Foremost, got hooked up with them thru A.I.S. insurance broker. Pay abt. $270/yr for full coverage, had low riding experience, and that's here in CA.

Check out Dairyland, especially if you have other high liability bikes. They also do other insurances in some states. I was able to insure the valk and interceptor for @250/yr for full coverage.Foremost wanted about $1200 because of my sportbike.Good-bye Foremost. They also give you discount during winter season and let you retain comprehensive without the liability.

Every year around this time the insurance question pops up.
Every year people throw out the $ they are paying.
Every year people DON'T put what $ coverage they are paying for. Plus any additional coverage for accessories, medical, recovery etc. etc. etc.

I had the same insurance company since I have been needing insurance 16 years. I decided to "step out of the box". I just bought a house and got married. I changed my insurace company all together. I had american family and they couldn't even come close for home insurance/auto/ or motorcycle. I am saving 300 dollars a year on home owner insurance and 100 dollars on two cars and a truck. But the company we went to for cars and home do not insure motorcycles. I decided to go with Dairyland for motorcycle insurance. Same coverage as american family but it is only 320.00 a year for BOTH bikes. I was paying 470.00. After visiting w/ my american family agent for a quote on home/auto/motorcycle we decided to switch. I get a call from my agent after he found out that I cancelled and asked me how come we cancelled and I told him he was way too high. He said, "but you didn't give me a chance". Really??!! I was in his office for an hour a week prior for an quote and now he thinks he can do better?? Seriously?? I told him I would never come back cause now I feel like you could have done a better job on my premiums now that you are "negotiating". What an eye opener..
Not a plug for my home insurance company but I must tell you they have been fantastic, they call me before we closed make sure all is going well, then they called after we closed to make sure all went well. And then they answered questions that I didn't know to ask.. Great great company. They gave me a discount for being a with american family for so long so don't let your agent scare you by saying.. "but you have been with us so long that you get an extra discount". Amica gave us 20% off for being with american family for so long. Great people... If you want the lady's name i talked to for a quote.. let me know...
Also, Linda w/ Dairyland insured both bikes for full coverage and they cover an additional 5k dollars for accessories.. Great folks their as well...
believe my coverage on bike is 100,000/300,000 no PIP and I am 32

I paid around 525 for 3 bikes and two riders last year (only full insurance on the valk) I just got quoted at Markel for 269 a year with the same coverage, so I think I'll be leaving good ol Geico for Markel.
Weird, they insure my truck and my wife's car and nobody can touch em by a mile, but their moto insurance is ridiculous.

So you just here to stir things up or are you going to contribute to the discussion by listing what you're paying and what that includes. Here's the details of mine so people can compare apples to apples (of course this doesn't take into consideration the difference in location of residence.) I have roadside which will tow my bike and trailer 100 miles as well as other assistance thru GWRRA. BODILY INJURY & PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY $34.00 BI $100,000 EACH PERSON - $300,000 EACH ACCIDENT PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY - $50,000 EACH ACCIDENT UNINSURED MOTORIST BODILY INJURY $64.00 $100,000 EACH PERSON/$300,000 EACH ACCIDENT UM PROPERTY DAMAGE $50,000 LESS $200 DEDUCTIBLE $5.00 COMPREHENSIVE $500 DEDUCTIBLE $9.00 COLLISION $500 DEDUCTIBLE $53.00 ACCESSORY COVERAGE $3,000 INCL -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Premium by Vehicle $165.00 Total Policy Premium $165.00

Rather I'd be asking for the best customer service and best response to claims from a company. That woudl be a good starting point to compare quotes.

Timbr, You and I both live in MI. Here in this state we must pay and additional $120 per vehicle to the MCCA. The MCCA is a state sponsored and approved way to extort more money from consumers, amd it is not accountable to any goverenment or consumer agency. They (MCCA) claim the money is used to pay for claims exceeding $250K and it ecludes motorcycles that are not involved in multiple vehicle accidents.
Contact the AMA (1 800 AMA-JOIN) or your local ABATE chapter for mor information about the MCCA.

Yeah Foremost just sent me a quote for 720 for full insurance on the Valk and liability on a Honda 500... I didn't even mention the Goldwing because I'm gonna sell it. It's crazy how vastly the quotes vary. I could see a hundred or so, but 500 bucks?

I also have Pogressive, and when a Deer and I crossed paths and I came out the looser it did not look that bad, figured about $1500.oo that I would cover so no police report and no Insurance report and took the bike to the "shop" and got a surprize. ...... $7500.oo. So I called Pogressive and to my surprize they stepped up to the plate and covered the differance, ( I did not want a Salvage stamp on the Title. ) They paid $6500.oo and I covered the rest, ( Bike better than new. ) I am one happy duck with the way it worked out, ...... would recomend Pogressive to anyone.

....I wound up going back to Progressive.... Probably a good choice, Dave. Progressive did well by me when I needed them.
One hint to all riders. Get the max coverage for uninsured/underinsured motorist. You'll be shocked at how quickly you can run up a half million dollars worth of bills.
