I got drunk in Flour Bluff in a seedy little Marina bar on the inner coast one night in 1965, got in a fight and me and the other guy busted a few things.  The Marina owner made us push bait shrimp until we got enough to pay for the damage, Damn near drowned a coupla times before we got sobered up, Ended up good friends. Ah the Navy days!  Grin Grin Hoser

Times were sure different, then.  The Constable was more likely to give you a ride home, or to the gate, than lock you up.  "Seedy" isn't enough description to distinguish Bluff bars but I'll bet I was  in the same one in the seventies.  The Bluff was an interesting place,  then, and a fellow could get fully educated in the Ponderosa Lounge's parking lot.  That's the first place I saw cowboys smoking dope and girls kissing. Shocked

This one was south last road that went that way before the causeway to padre.  Where the houses had a canal instead of an alley behind them.  Keep in mind this was when there was still a swing bridge as the only way to get to padre, that and a ferry at aransas pass.  Enjoyed my time there.  Hoser,  By the way is the NAS still there?

NAS_CC  is  a thriving training facility  and Army Depot (formerly, ARADMAC) is a major employer for the area.
You beer joint must have been  down Laguna Shores Rd and a couple of those old places are still there.   One has an old boat sitting near the highway with the words "Flour Bluff's oldest dive!"  spray painted on it.  Going for some kind of recognition for Texas Historical Society, I guess.   Grin
The fish house/marina at the end of the road is now a popular sea-food restaurant.
One of the high points of my mis-spent youth involved a running battle in between the swing bridge and Humble Channel.  Ahh... good times.  Smiley

Laguna Shores Drive, That is it exactly, sounds like the air station is doing the same thing as when I was stationed there.   It was kinda sad seein those shot up hueys coming in on railcars to be repaired.  Aradmac was right beside our hanger, we flew 50 old S2fs to train new pilots, Jet squadrons were in Beeville and Kingsville NAS.  Man, I'm gettin old!  Hoser   Shocked
