for all you old southern people...............they have been making ethanol for a long time and using it in many gas powered engines, i am really surprized at you "good ol boys" "nascar junkies" "bootleggers" that has never heard of your grandpappies running moonshine in thier cars to make them go faster than the revenuers. (pre nascar)
Hey junior,
I think the biggest complaint that us "southern boys" have against the gasolines that are enriched with ethanol is that is lowers the efficiency and therefore the mileage yielded by that fuel. I know that with standard gasoline, my bike will get about 32 MPG and with the ethanol additives (up to 15% at present) it will only get about 28 or so. My bike runs smoother, cooler and much more efficiently without that junk. It also seperates from the gasoline in your tank if it sits for as little as a month, thereby making it harder to get the MC cranked up. Call me crazy, but I don't care for it. I can't do much about it now though because all of our stations and their suppliers here are on the ethanol band wagon. My bike also exhibits a little preignition when it's hot outside, which I don't care for. We are using that fuel in vehicles that just aren't tuned for it. Anyway, Ride Safely and have an excellent riding season!
