Hey guys,
I noticed riding with my SO the other day, the rear end would squeak going over bumps, Its not the shocks, sounds like the swing arm....She's getting a complex.  Anybody else experience this? Wink

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Tell her she is fine!  Cheesy Sure its not the shocks? How about if you bump them up a notch?

If nothing else, check the swing arm bearings for proper seating, may be a little loose. When you ride over a bump, it may contact the side or fender to cause the squeal.

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

Don't forget to take a look at the joint yoke between the drive shaft and transmission, mine failed at about 60K and started the same way.

You can test for location/origination of the squeak sometimes with a water pistol.

Simply spray a separate location and then ride to produce the squeak.

Continue this until the squeak is neutralized and you've found the location. Now you have but to zero in on the emitter.

I'd place money on the nut cages are polishing a bit of the sidewall on his rear tire. Look at the tire and see if there's a shiney ring at the widest point. If so: do the nut cage mod.

+1 on checking the nut cage, i had the same squeak with co pilot only, Car tire? well i did the nut cage mod 9 years ago but since then i added Champion bags and the bolt was coming through, put a shine on the sidewall, took a cutoff wheel and zapped it off. also set shock preload to 4th notch.
