Don ( Highbinder ) and I met up friday to check out the Bardstown, Kentucky area for a second time getting ready for the June 11-12-13 " The Whiskey Run ". We've planned out a nice ride that I'm sure folks will enjoy. We had Don ( Spirited-6 ) join us on friday and he showed us some beautiful country out by all the rich horse farms near Lexington on our way to Bardstown ( Thanks Don ) . Friday was a beautiful day with nothing but sunshine. Friday night Dave Weaver and his wife Julie joined us at the motel and rode alittle with us Saturday when we did the scouting ride. The weather pretty much sucked saturday morning with cool temps and rain. Soon after Dave and Julie headed home we hit blue skys , dry roads and sunshine it turnrd into a awesome day for motorcycling. We hooked up with Mac ( Crazyhorse ) at The Mammoth Cave National Park and rode out for a nice lunch in Glasgow. ( Mac it was good seeing and ridin' with you again I'd like to also thank you for waiting on us ).

On my home I took all backroads as the weather today was made for ridin'. I saw this place last November when we did the first scouting trip so today I rode out to check it out.The road out here was outstanding . I was the only one on the entire battlefield this morning it was a very quiet and I got a uneasy feeling while walking onto the battlefield.

Whew thought that was Lincoln's ghost in that window and it was only Dave doing a Lincoln Impression. Good Lookin bike there Dave. A lot of those Green and Siver Interstates being snatched up these days. That may be the New Black before long. Hi Dave and Hi High Binder and Hi Joe Thanks for scoutin out this run, I may have to drive the Vette to this one. It may not be wise to travel with newly plugged heart and on a bike could be too much.. We''ll see.

Man that horse farm country around Lexington is beautiful Joe. We rode thru some of it the first year Inzane was in Paduchah. We wanted to tour the Woodford Reserve distillery but by the time we found it the last tour had left like 5 minutes before we got there. Good to hear y'all had a good ride and good weather.

Joe, Sorry we split up when we did as it turned out nice about a half hour later. I was afraid with my going bald front tire if the weather stayed wet that we would slow you down a lot. By the time we made the half hour trip back to Bardstown, it had stopped raining for the day. We ended staying in Bardstown until around 2:30pm. We stopped at the KY Rail Museum and it was closed. We toured the historic downtown area and ate lunch at the Old Talbott Tavern. We went to My Old Kentucky State Park and it was closed. We went to the KY Civil War museum and it was closed. I believe these are all good sightseeing possibilities if people want to see them and maybe they will be open during summer. We washed the bike, Julie got a haircut, and we headed up US 31 for home. As always, I had a good time riding and visiting with you and Don. Take care, and we'll see you on the road.

You are welcome Joe. I enjoyed the short visit and ride with you and Don. I`m glad we took that short cut to Blue Grass Pkwy. Versailles road had about 25,000 race fans on it about the time we would have been on it. Well, not all at once, but a LOT of cars from 11:00 to 1:00. OPPS, I told you the wrong hwy. number at the on ramp of BG Parkway. It was #33, not #39. Sorry. Thanks for the pictures. Don.

I've changed my avatar to Abe Lincoln in honor of this ride -Mike Just for the record this ride has absolutely nothing to do with Abe Lincoln but ol'Abe is all over that part of Kentucky. We will use his boyhood home and the National Park as a break stop on the ride." The Whiskey Run " is going to be about motorcycles, whiskey and fast beautiful cars I'm sure folks will enjoy the planned ride and I'm lookin' forward to it .
