And there has been nothing like it since! The valk started the "power cruiser" war and, in my opinio, still owns it. Some bikes are faster, some more comfortable, but none beat the valk as the best all round power cruiser ever produced. Although, I may be just a tad biased.

great read - it attracted me to the Valk Of course I did not purchase my 99 I/S until 2001 after In-Zane I I snuck into In-Zane I with my 86 wing Before the Valk was born - I had been formulating a way to customize my wing to look more like a conventional MC - really did not want all the bells & whistles the wing has - then Honda introduced the Valk - then it was time to save up the money

I like in the article how it tells who it is going to attract as a customer base, "Shadow owners, younger harley owners, etc" it did not mention me at all. I was a fan of non-v twin cruisers: CB750, XS1100. If I had not been able to get on a Valk when I bought mine, I would have wanted either an older good condition GW Stripper, or the Suzuki Bandit. Neither are really the same bike. I would have enjoyed either, but neither would have taken me where the Valk has taken me and my wife this comfortably.
Still think market ressearch is wrong and that non-v twin cruisers should sell. The Honda Fury needs a CB750 in that frame to be perfect!
That was a fun article. Hadn't seen that one in a while. Thanks for the post.

Those articles were read to me while I was in Intensive care at the hospital. The wife just picked up Motorcycle magazines so she'd have something to read to me. 21 days in Intensive care was a long assed time, trust me....... I think the bike also gave me the will to pull through and keep sucking air. I was ready to give up the ghost.
I had hoses stuck in my chest, nose, mouth and on a ventilator at the time. Heart surgeon had basically F'ked up and it had to be redone....... He doesn't do suregery anymore, they busted his bubble. That is another story.
Valkyrie was one of the articles that she read and I kept writin on my pad, pictures, show me some pictures.
She then went to the Honda shop and picked up the poop sheets they had on the bike........... While laying in that stupid hospital bed all plugged in and tapped for food in the IV, I wrote on a piece of paper she still has somewhere in a scrapbook, I want one of those when I get out of here......... She had the son ride my Harley over to the Honda shop, and they basically made the deal for when the 1st one came into the dealership it was mine. Traded a 94 Harley FLHSTI I think was the letters, been too long ago, and walked out the door with license, 3 year extended warranty, sales tax paid and etc. NO $$$$$ changed hands.............. The dealer took a beating on getting rid of the HOG, no Harley riders hardly ever showed up in his store.
