Two weekends ago we put a new tire on my buddy Henry's Valkyrie... the splines in the final drive aren't in very good shape, about a third gone... Me and Henry talked about how stuff would probably be OK for this tire, maybe more (especially if proper lubing and procedure is kept up)... but he decided to go for ordering a Pinwall Pumpkin and a new flange from HDL... I made the HDL order on the 28th of March and the Pinwall order on the 29th. Still no parts, I hope they come this week (two days left)... My bike's tire is shot too, I've got one sitting here, but Henry's bike is on my lift... come on Brown... I got one of those fender racks from a VRCC member a couple of weeks ago (THANKS!) and it looks great, I think: I shimmed it a little to keep it from rubbing the fender: -Mike "come on Brown"

I shimmed it a little to keep it from rubbing the fender: I bought mine new and it came with a rubber peel and stick " pad " to keep it off the fender.I'm looking for another one as I plan to remove the trunk and fairing on my yellow bike to dig on some wind if you see another one let me know.

Wow no grease at all on the rear pumpkin diffie thingie.
Just goes to show you,if you want it done right, find some one who knows thier stuff and ask.
Grease is the life of this unit.
Kawasaki does not require any at all on their diff. design, completely different unit on the KAWIE.
Honda dropped the ball on the Valkyrie Diff. and that is surprising to me becasue I have always
expected the best in Qulaity in a Honda Product. But wiht TLC they will live a long life.
Our Buddy Greg had a rusty unit like that one shown there Mike.
Decided to wait till next time to replace the unit entirely.
Question is the Pinwall Unit better or just cheaper than the Honda Unit?

I like how you took your sissybar tabs off, but I gotta leave mine on... I can swap over to a back seat and arm rests for Carolyn in about 15 minutes... -Mike

Pinwall's about $1200 (I haven't really looked recently ) better... Pinwall is a salvage man... I have a Pinwall final drive on my bike, he usually sends out good stuff... -Mike

PinWall is a bone yard they have parts to any brand rollin'...I have several parts from them on all three of my bikes and so far so good with trusting them to be honest about condition.

Pinwall, that's interesting.
First time I have heard about them.
Could come in handy in the future.

I know when I sold my Valk the final drive gears looked like brand new. You HAVE to lube about every 10,000 miles AND make sure the rubber boot up by the engine is securely in place.

Those splines are what they look like with Honda's Moly Paste. With a good grease, you could get another year out of those.

I wish I would have known you were looking for another one. I just gave one away, I didn't care for the fit. It was real difficult to mount with the seat rail (they use the same holes)

Could be... local dealer put on the last couple of tires, it is a low mileage Valk, there may have been only one tire on it before Henry got it... -Mike

I know several people I could borrow a lift from, but I think I'd be letting them down using it on my red-dirt "floor"... my lift is pretty ratty lookiing... -Mike "come on Brown"

"Local dealer" just cost you big bucks, they oughta have to replace it! I'm not surpriised, good dealer mechanics are hard to find. Hoser
