As discussed at last night's meeting:
I'll be wrenching off and on all weekend and into next week trying to wrap up several projects (glasspack mod installation, front & rear wheel removal, VTX1800C front fender mod, auxiliary fuse block, TPMS installation). So, if you have something that needs to be done that you need/want help with, OR, if you just need a destination for a ride-to-watch/help, come on over. Just call, email, text, or post to get directions and to let me know your schedule. Who knows, might even light up the firepit and grill something...
Known additional projects include, but are not limited to: I have the sync gauges & pliers for BnB Tom's bike - can do more; Air Filter removal & replacement; There also should be a Memphis Shades Batwing installation at some point - really excited to see that.
(Electrical expertise ALWAYS welcome!)

Had a great time Dave. Thanks for the help and info. Replaced my filter and installed a horn mount for later. Also did the carb sync since the gauge was there. Mine werent bad but its better now.
Lesson learned, if you dont know what maintenance has been done, do it anyway or at least check it. That filter was nasty. I had a suspicion that it wasnt done at least recently if not ever. 27k miles. I had already done all the fluids, some were just nasty. The right pliers for taking off the tank is the key for sure. I tried to take off the tank before and had little luck. Got a 90 deg needle nose and it was too straight. The 45 deg ones Dave had worked great. Gonna take the 90s back and exchange for 45s.

What a fun weekend - and it's only half over. Big thanks to Valkpilot and his electrical confidence. See ya in the morning. I'll be here all day. Sorry to miss the wrenching, but Trey did win his baseball game this morning! Congratulations to Trey! That filter was nasty... Gonna take the 90s back and exchange for 45s. Yep, you could only see green from directly above. What? Return tools? Just get some 45s to keep the 90s company!

Dave, did your get your fuse block installed? Yes, it's mounted and mostly wired. I need to hang the relay that will power the switched circuits, connect everything to the relay, and re-run one or two of the previous add-ons to the fuse block. Now it's on to the exhaust & fender mod.

Oh, one more thing. I "spent" (wasted!) more time than I want to admit searching for risers to bring the VTX1800C handlebars back about 3". LONG story short, Baron Custom Accessories makes a 12mm to 1/2" adapter that will allow HD-style risers to fit metric bikes WITHOUT having to drill the top clamp. The guy I spoke with at Baron couldn't guarantee Valkyrie fitment, but the accessory guy at my local dealership spoke with personal experience that they do work. About $20.00 and the rest of the riser world opens up... Top riser clamps are another matter. HD-style are on 3.5" centers and the Valkyire is 100mm (roughly 4"), so the single piece top clamps for HD are out. Individual clamps do exist, though. Everything gets here Tuesday! Here's Baron's site. http://www.baronscustom.com/Here's a picture. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/ZZ50005

That sure was fun, but it looks like a bomb went off in the garage! Thanks to all who came over and worked on stuff - whether mine or theirs - or just hung out! With a few minor tweaks, my weekend projects will be complete.
I'll be at it off and on for the next several days, Chris. Give me a call. I've never done the intake o-rings, but maybe ol' Vermithrax can come over again.

If it's not an IS, it's pretty easy. IS you have to remove the pods... Loosen up the clamp on the top portion of the intake runner, remove the 2 bolts on the bottom and wiggle to break it loose form the bottom o-ring. Remove it from the rubber top part, replace the o-ring, and put it back the way it came out. I did mine and had no problems with them. Hay Jimmyt

What a busy bunch of bees. I thought Dave (B.A.D.) was permanently afixed to the floor of his garage but he finally came up for air around 5:30. Got a lot of stuff done on his bike and now the "Rumble Bee" really does!! As for mine, I've got to thank Jeff (Wanderer) and Dave (Valkpilot) for their expertise on re-syncing my carbs (even tho they seemed to disagree about procedure.. every step of the way). The re-do seems to have solved my probs. All turned out well for me except, for the first time in over 3 years, I left the key on . But, a little down hill attitude and a nudge from the boys in 3rd gear got me running and I've since got the battery back to snuff. Only had a few parts left over

The poorly seated tube from my airbox to my carb was the whole issue with my lousy gas mileage. I hit 201 miles as I pulled into the office this morning and I am still not on reserve.
