DO NOT go past the ROAD CLOSED signs on the Richard Russell Parkway, Hwy 348 near Helen, GA.

We were told by the Park Rangers who had a road block that the road is closed because at the top there is a possibility that the edge of the road may crumble because there might have been a wash out under the road.

However I and other bikes and cars managed to pass though the "danger zone" with no harm to life or limb.

If the Feds wanted to make sure no one went on the road way why didn't put a full width barrier up as is doen on the Blue Ridge Parkway? The barrier at the Helen end; the barrier I passed; was half the size of the one I photographed at the western end. Surely this isn't an easy way to raise some revenue???????????????

Nor was there any warning that a fine would be levied for passing the barrier. What a crock of $h1t.

IT'S A $125 FINE- It's a Federal Road.

BE WARNED. I got busted today.

Also be warned that the Union County Sherrifs had 2 speed traps on Hwy 180, Wolf Pen Gap, today and have had speed traps for the past 4 weekends. I spoke with a rider who got a ticket for 41 in a 35 zone.

Please pass this on to all the local GA riders you know.

I hate to hear that Brit MAn nobody likes a ticket.

Here's a song to cheer you up.

Usually takes me a week or more to get over getting a ticket.

We all get them and we who are adventurous get more than our share.

The local boys were out too!  Angry

Thumper and I +3 ALL got speeding tickets just north of Suches, GA! A father and son team from the sherrifs dept. trapped us. They pulled all five of us over with radar on the first two...

Gave us all tickets for 60 in a 45... Doesn't seem right for the guys in back...

Otherwise a beautiful day in North Ga, TN and NC. Rode up to Telico Plains and across the Cherohala Skyway. Allways a good ride.  Cool

We may decide to argue the tickets, at least some of them. Officer claimed to have the first two at 64 and 62. I don't think they had any reading on the other three bikes.

Brian, other LEO's, any suggestions?

Since money got tight the cops are writing tickets like crazy. I was driving back from DeLand to Orlando on I-4 last week (40 miles) and saw state troopers with radar under three different overpasses.

It's all about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I have a novel idea!  Instead of trying to figure out a way to wiggle out of a speeding ticket, why not just drive at the speed limit?  Then you do not get one!   Or, if you are speeding, and get a ticket, accept your punishment, and pay it?

Novel, huh?  Personal responsibility.  New idea.

I have a novel idea. Instead of jumping to conclusions howabout you READ THE WHOLE POST and try to comprehend the written words.

"We MAY decide to argue the tickets, AT LEAST SOME of them. Officer claimed TO HAVE THE FIRST TWO at 64 and 62. I DON'T THINK THEY HAD ANY READING on the other three bikes."

Then you might have an ability to post something that makes sense.

I have to again ask myself "why do I still come to this website?"

There so many perfect people on this site it amazes me. That along with the holy rollers and admin not alowing any risque pictures and calling me an asshole for posting one and no more good posts from Strong Eagle... why am I here?

I have made some good friends from this site, but I think I can stay in touch with them elsewhere. Oh, and I do still like the Valk!  Shocked

I hate that happened to ya Paul. My spirit of adventure would have made me go around it as well. That plus I don't do every thing the government tells me to do. I leave that to the fine Americans.
I also agree with Duffy. If he clocked all the bikes, why did he not tell them how fast they were going ?
Thanks for the warning.  cooldude

The sign said "road closed".  It didn't say "do not go beyond this sign".    Why not go have an innocent "look see" at what's around the next bend?

Having done some research I now know that signs similar to the one in my photo are used across the USA.

I'll know in future not to go past one.  Shocked
