Daredevils are still out there, but they don't pull the media attention that Evel once did. I think they still draw the crowd, but not the nations attention like Evel. Love or hate him, Evel could draw a crowd and attention.
Does anyone remember the Human Fly? He was a Canadian daredevil that was trying to capitalize on the stylzied costumed daredevil. Like Evel, the Human Fly had a visual persona that was marketable. Human Fly had tv specials, and tried to have toys. Oddly, Human Fly convinced Marvel comics to produce a comic based on his character, "the real superhero."
I don't know if the Human Fly did anything as big as jumping off the Tower of London bridge like this newer daredevil, but the Human Fly did have a sense of style that was heavily borrowed from superheros and Evel.
Rick Rojatt aka The Human Fly a film comedy is in production by a Canadian company.
