A buddy of mine told me that a guy he works with does powder coating. Said the guy told him there is a new high temp. powder coat out that can handle high exhaust temps. Anybody heard this ? I was under the impression that to do exhausts/headers you had to ceramic coat to handle the heat ? Anyone have an idea what max header temps on our Valks might be ?

I'm not sure of the exhaust temps or high-temp powder coat, but I just had my stock headers ceramic coated as part of the glasspack mod.  I asked if they might crack or chip during any "tweaking" of the final alignment and the answer was no, that the ceramic coating is a variation of the powder coat that withstands high heat but contains plenty of plastic to allow for any very minor flexing I might exert.  I had thought they were completely different, but I was told they are quite similar.

Here is a muffler that has been powder coated with the high temp stuff...

Yellowish piece between header and muffler is actually chrome.   Fluorescent lights play games along with the flash.

Headers are Sanderson and are ceramic coated.   Muffler is a Nascar unit and my buddy powder coated it with the new high temp stuff...

I guess my question should have been, "can the new high temp powder coat hold up to header temps or is ceramic still the only way to go for headers ?"
