Well... the bad news 1st.....
Completely lost the day as far as working around here getting things ready for the GOTFs.....  I mean I didn't get a single thing done
NADA.......Just got back home.

The good news...... well it starts out sounding BAD.....
Got a call from the Brazoria County Sheriff...........THAT CAN NEVER BE GOOD!!!!

He said the Sheriff Dept in San Patricio County called and said they had my 16 ft trailer..heavy duty 10,000lb gvrw.... the one that was stolen from here in October.....It had been making trips with the new ILLEGAL owners to Mexico and hauling thing to and from....Plates were out of date... and they put 'home made trailer plates on it......
Drove down to Sinton.... 30 miles from Corpus.... Got with the Sheriff Dept....... went to the impound lot...(private)  ...Sure enough, It was my trailer...
They had removed the VIN#s and all markings......Cut off the electic plug and had a 4 prong all wired wrong.... I don't know what happened to the ramps.
Had to pay the impound $273 to get my trailer back.....  Now I need to rewire it.... send off the get it re-registered and a renewed VIN....and build some ramps for it......Plus $85 in gas to go get it........Still I would say it's good news!!!!!!

Man, it's all GOOD NEWS.  If it wasn't THAT 10k lb trailer, it wouldn't have been worth it.  But, to get it back for around $400 IS good.  You can make the ramps easy enough.

Glad you got 'er back.

Having to pay the impound fees on your " stolen " trailer just seems wrong to me in my mind the Mexican's should have that added on to court cost .Do you plan to file charges ?

I agree, in fact I think the Mexicans should have to restore the trailer to it's original condition or pay to have it done in addition to any other sentence the court imposes.

Then they should be shot.

Unfortunately here in IL. I had my bobcat trailer stolen and I actually seen it gong down the highway called the police from my cell phone. They caught up and yea it was my trailer. They said they would get it to impound? However I didn't know I had to pay for it? $150 And if I didn't come and get it NOW it would be an additional charge per day. What a crock. They do it because they can.

If the crooks can drive it around with out it being registered for six months, why couldn't you?

It sucks that the police take advantage of you, an honest person, they should go after the thieves for the impound costs.

I'd get caught  the 1st day....LOL    I did have letters from the Sheriff Dept noting I was returning stolen property home for the 300 mile trip home.  Had 2 different state troopers fall in behind me on the way home.....but didn't stop me.  Course if I had not had the paperword, I'd have been stopped for sure Cheesy
