I enjoy riding the twisted roads and would love to do it more often, however, EVERY TIME I take to the twists (usually on the goat trail up Bear Mountain) a vehicle on the other side of the road crosses the double yellow into my lane, This infuriates me because first I get scared, then I get taken out of the moment, and then I worry what's coming aroung every bend. It never fails.
Another thing I don't get......A few weeks ago we rode through an area called Hawks Nest. It's a road on the side of the mountain that has ONE area of nice curves in it. There are many scenic lookouts along the road, but we saw a large group of bikes squeezed into the scenic lookout....right in the middle of the cruvey part of the road. Because there were so many of them, traffic through the curves was slowed to a crawl. Why would riders pull over within the only part of the road that's not boring? And "F" it up for everyone else on the road?

Nuf said, they ran out of butt time in the seat. You know like every 35 miles or less.

I feel your pain....
i noticed that when gas prices got up to $4 per gallon around here, there were a lot less sunday drivers out. maybe that's what we need?

You know I kind of expect the cagers to be on my side of the road in the curves, but last weekend doing the Skyline (speed limit 35) I am trolling down the road (straight as can be) and this friggin idiot in a minivan decides the road aint big enough on his side and pushes me into the weeds, I managed to save it and was blaring my horn at him, you know the guy did not even stop, (actually lucky for him because I am sure his kids would have been scared for life as he would have been.)
I must say in Europe people still drive their cages like the road is theres but it seems they watch for bikers more than here.

Gman you will be real happy to know that 106 is now open from Lake Sebago Circle (its the first right as you go into the circle after the Tiorati Circle heading west on Seven Lakes Drive)
I didnt see any cars on it either way as word must not be out that its open. Only one stretch that has big potholes near the 1st parking area on the left
That road and the Arden Rd (which is the 1st right at the Tiorati Circle) are some of the nicest twisties of any appreciable length in the area with almost no traffic
Anyways I totally agree with you one way roads you dont have to worry about being a bug on some trucks windscreen - aint it dumb that we have less to worry from the trucks on the Cross Bronx and the Bruckner than these roads with just a double yellow line. At least the traffic is moving in the same direction and one can map out an escape route. Those pics of cops crossing the yellow on the gap are a nightmare.
