Awe inspiring.

I was in a Walmart in Iron Moutain, MI this morning and I met a WWII navy veteran.  As Always, I shook his hand and thanked him for his service.  Then he told me his story.  Just Freekin incredible.  Had his Aircraft Carrier (the USS San Lo) sunk from underneath him and he and his shimates ended up in the water.

I was a Submariner in the Navy before I was a First Sergeant in the Army and it was all I could do to not get emotional and hug the guy.  As a former sailor, I couldn't imagine loosing any of my shipmates or any of my young soldiers for that matter.

I've passed this link along on my facebook page and too my veteran friends.  Hope you don't mind.

My ole Hunting Buddy Fred Hooks WW II Vet, was blown up by a mortar attack because

in theatre his driver turned the headlights on for a moment and the Kraut zeroed in on them and

well after that he could not eat corn on the cob ever again.

Blew all his front teeth out.

Fred went away for his final reward about ten years ago.

These men and woman who served so bravely should be in our thoughts continually.

Thanks to all who have served like this man the video is about.

Thanks

I was raised by one of those guys.
It took me years to get him to talk.
Turns out that he was in Gadelcanal,Tarawa,Palue
Okanawa. Had to watch him cry like a baby
while he told me what he saw. Found this picture of
him at Tarawa in his old foot locker.
