Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: April 16, 2010, 08:16:53 PM »

Big Al and I got a late start this morning but still got in alittle over 300 miles in the beautiful Tennessee / North Carolina mountains today. We took Hwy.360 out by the lake and hit The Cherohala Skyline into North Carolina. Rode out to Deals Gap to check out The Dragon ....It's open for business  cooldude First couple pictures taken right before you enter The Cherohala Skyline ...Cool mailbox  cooldude

We saw a bunch of bikes today and the store at Deals Gap was up and running makin' that money.

Sign at Deals Gap before you ride to the top and hit the Tennessee state line.

Big Al got some custom letter work today for his Kawasaki Mean Streak he is doing a 8-Ball theme on that bike ....I kinda think its advertising for what Al does on the side to make all that money Wink

Picture of the bikes at the over-look on US 129.

They have these " DO NOT CRASH AND GET HURT " signs all up and down The Dragon in just about every piece of straight road letting folks know that help will be slow getting there with the rockslide down by the lake....North Carolina has parked a ambulance with two EMT'S at Deals Gap and they told me they plan to be there until the road opens up from the Tennessee side ....It would seem to me The Dragon will have faster EMT service than anytime since folks have been smackin' trees  Undecided

We crossed The Great Smoky Moutains back into Tennessee out of Cherokee, North Carolina and ran head on into The Street Rod's National that's took Pigeon Forge over this weekend .The traffic sucked however we saw hundreds of beautiful cars.Pictures taken near Newfound Gap the last picture has a huge black bear in it however you can't see it very well ...Its almost right in the midle of the photo.

I'll see you next weekend Paul  cooldude  Today's ride was kind of a scoutin' ride to see what was going on at Deals Gap. Folks will be rollin' into Knoxville friday evening . I'm thinking we'll have less than 10 bikes in the group unless I can shame some of my other buddies to join us  Smiley Big Al has done confirmed he's going to ride .I'll be making a post tomorrow letting folks on this site know about next weekends ride.

Had a good time as usual and hope everyone a safe ride next week as we tackle the

East Tennesssee back roads and cross over into North Carolina and run some of those

Moon Shine Routes of old.

Lotsa history and great roads make for a good start anyway.

Remeber it's not a race, only those that finish win.

If you fall behind we will wait on you without complaint from us.

Like wise check on your neighbor form time to time to make sure we don't leave anyone behind.

I love the spring colors that are just pass peak right now.My wife , daughter and grand-daughter have all been to the doctor with pollen allergies they claim we have a record this year with the worse pollen count on record  Sad   My black Dodge pick-up stay's under a shed and the pollen has it covered so much so you can't hardley see out the windows. My bikes are in a closed garage and the pollen has even made its way to them as well  Undecided  I've said it before ...I'd like to have a dollar for every picture taken of Calderwood Dam from the over-look on US 129 The Dargon.

I will be wearing that VRCC shirt you sent me Mike on this ride.

It is a nice looking Tee with agood looking logo.

Proud as a peach to have it.

You better go with us to make sure I am wearing it correctly.

Or just maybe cause you will have a good time and need to work on those chicken strips.

So come on over and ride with this bunch I call my friends and proud to do it.

Big Al

PS Bring some riders wiht you if you can find some that want to have a good time.

Thanks again.
