the dunes could be a good ride,,,,,,,,for you. its 25 minutes from my house and 15 more minutes from where i work. i made myself a promise a long time aog, when i ride its away from work. Being from NW IN, i generally find myself heading south or east. anyway, i am going to try to make whiskey a bend of mine this year. i am looking for all those Valks in 1 location. As the weather improves i will keep this in mind and maybe call for something. a get to know ya' ride or something like that. We'll definately see what the summer brings.

I've been talking to my son Mark ( Mad6Gun) since he's the NE Indiana rep. We've also been thinking about some rides.  We're open to any suggestions. especially from you Brian since you planned a few rides.  Mark hasn't much time this summer because of his car project, so it would have to be a simple get together.

Since this is flatland, not much on riding , I was thinking Auburn Cord Museum or the WWII museum or maybe the Dunes.

Any ideas?

Wayne you are simply a gold mine of information!  I had no idea that the Cord automobile was made in Indiana and I am pleased to find out that there is a museum close by.  In my humble opinion the Cord was the most beautiful car ever made.

Not sure solo1.  Undecided Your ideas are also good ones. I do know the 4 Winds buffalo farm in Angola was a hit 2 years ago with the mayors ride. We are planning on making a day or 2 of it sometime this year up there. Not sure what Pokagan SP has to offer either. We kinda are into Indian history stuff and going to see Kil-so-quah's grave in Roanoke and find Chief Little Turtle in Ft Wayne and head to Ft Recovery Ohio to see the battlefield there this summer also. Oh, and Happy B-day!  cooldude

Though it wouldn't necessarily be in Indiana, the ride over route 424 and route 110 from Defiance, OH to Grand Rapids, OH is really nice and scenic as it winds alongside the river. Not many hills, obviously, but at least there are some gentle sweepers as the road meanders along the river.

Grand Rapids is a quaint little town with some good ice cream shops and several unique stores. The ride could even be extended up the road to Waterville, OH where there's a state park on the river.

Diane and I have made this ride a couple of times. Makes for a nice ride, as you can get there, enjoy a couple hours in the town/state park and get back to Fort Wayne all in one day.

Please be sure and post when you plan to do the A/C museum, if you don't mind, maybe some of the Rogue Riders will join you.  I've always wanted to visit the museum and meet our neighbors.

Well, i am thinking it may be worth planning something. We generally head out, definately hit an ice cream joint, and make a day of it. being from indiana, i never really thought of flat lands, but in any direction east and or south still sounds like it may work. as soon as the weather breaks lets see if something can be put together. i have only had the pleasure of riding with 1 other valkyrie and could not believe how the engines express themselves side by side. lets keep it in mind and see if we can get something going.

Good ideas, all.  I'll talk to Mark.  Meanwhile here's a pic of a Cord boat tail taken in the WWII museum.
Also here's a pic of a Berkshire 2/8/4 locomotive fully restored and close to New Haven.
