Is Bald Hill Road passable on a motorcycle? I am traveling through Redwoods National Park and want to get to Highway 96, going North. Microsoft Streets and Trips says I can but am a little leary after reading about the road. Help, please.

I know the road and the area.  Unless time is a matter of essence, I wouldn't.  The Bald Hills road is not maintained regularly.  Bald Hills road includes 30 miles of gravel... turning to pavement in a very remote area with "no" services for many-many miles, even after you hit pavement. The citizenry can be problematic in this area.  If you have a mechanical malfunction (flat tire) out there, no telling how long before you get some (trusted) assistance.  Don't know which way you are headed, north or south.  If northbound, continue on to Crescent City, then take 199 to Grants Pass, Oregon to I-5.  If southbound, continue south to Arcata, then east on 299 to Willow Creek, then northeast on 96 to I-5 at Yreka.  If it were me calling the shots, you are time-money-stress-ahead by taking an alternate route.  96 is a great MC route.  I've been around these parts (Orick-Weitchpec-Orleans-Willow Creek) for thirty-five years.  I'm in Willow Creek, off Hwy 96.  Let me know... sheets
