Thinking 'bout a trip to the Biltmore Estate and was wondering if any of you had any tips/insight to offer.  We're going to cage it down form Michigan since the other couple going with us don't ride.
Probably mid to late June.  Spend two full days at the estate?   Recommendations for places to stay that won't break the bank?  Places to eat?  Thoughts/recommendations?

TIA !  cooldude

I can't supply any local information on motels, etc.; however I will say that I have been there 3 times....and it is one of the most awesome places I have ever seen.  It is unthinkable that something like that could have been built in the 1890's.

I LOVE BILTMORE! Im going in September. There are several hotels in the surrounding area so anyone can find a place to stay. There is a hotel on the estate but it stays pretty booked. They have places to eat on the estate as well but when you leave the estate there are every kind of restuarant in the area. There is so much to see there and opening in May is Antler Village. I highly recommend you pay extra for the behind the scenes and rooftop tour.  You will be in a small group with a guide and you get information that you wouldn't get on the regular tour. Have fun!

$60.00 plus per day to get in Biltmore you can add $10.00 more for a two day pass ...They have a nice wine house also be sure to check it out . We always stay on Tunnel Road when we ride up and stay overnight its about 3 miles to Biltmore and plenty of motels and resturants even a cheap motel in Asheville will run you another $60.00 plus a day.I've been twice to Biltmore and now its just a " been there , done that " to me.Christmas is the best time to go IMO it's America’s largest home decorated with dozens of Christmas trees, hundreds of wreaths, bows, and poinsettias.

My wife and I usually eat at the Apollo Flame Bistro when we are at our vacation home in Hendersonville. It is very close to the Biltmore Estate's main gate. Great Greek salads and pizza...

To high priced to stay there, but save one afternoon to go to the Grove Park Inn.
Its worth the drive up just to sit in the loby and have a drink.  Great Friday nite
seafood but its about $25 a head.

Buy tickets on line and save $5. THe wife and I visited a couple weeks ago; had a great time. It is awesome.

I recommend the additional $10 per for the headset and "guided tour". You punch a number for the room you are in and it tells you all about it.  Shocked Worth the $10 each.

We did the house and Vineyard in a day. It was enough for me. We drove throught the garden on the way to the vineyard, it is nice too.

We stayed at a nice (but not top of the line) B&B called a Bed of Roses (www.abedofroses.com). It was good. I told Naoko when we get "flush" again we would stay at the Grove Park Inn. That place is on the Asheville Trollley tour, which is also cool.  Cool

Enjoy.

Not a cheap trip, but it is worth doing once in your life.

If you're going to do it then make sure you don't miss the winnery. It is a nice tour as well. The house is grand.

Thanks all for the great input.....much appreciated....found some motels that are somehow linked/recommended by Biltmore who offer packages which look inviting so we'll follow up on those too.  Looks lie a LOT to see so I hope we can cover most of it in the alloted two days!  Guess we'll have to walk fast..... Cheesy

Thanks again !!   cooldude
