Need info, Took off my trunk and added a rear light. So fae so good. I was wondering what to do for a sissy bar or some kind of backrest for the passenger.
I would like to know what some of the others have worked this out.
Went for a few short rides without the trunk, so far I really like it without all the extra weight.
All suggestions would be appreciated.
TIA

If you get the fender rails from a standard or tourer, I have a sissy bar and pad off my old standard I'd let go if you want it.

It looks like a sissy bar will fit on a I/S fender rail. But you would also have to buy the bracket for the sissy bar. Might be hard to find I've been looking for a left side one so far no luck

Someone on the board built a bracket to bolt where the studs that hold the trunk on are. It mounted a stock sissy bar and backrest to the I/S  rail that could be taken on and off easily. Maybe they'll chime in.

There is an article on F6 Rider http://www.f6rider.com/Articles/10_minute_super_valk.htm

You will either need to get fender rails from a standard/tourer to mount the sissy bar to, or build a custom bracket for the sissy bar. I have both and can swap back and forth, but honestly, when I get a little free time I'll be building a bracket that bolts to the IS fender rail. It's not a "quick" change without a custom bracket and the way the IS frame rail is built it would take some serious customizing (and then painting or re-chroming) to fit the stock mount for the backrest/sissy bar. Building a custom bracket would be quicker and easier.

Nitrojukie330, I sure could use your sissy bar and pad. Anyone out there have any ideas where I could possibly find a side bar from  a standard or touerer?

There is an ad for grab rails and complete backrest for sale in the classifieds but it's a package deal.  You have to take the seats with it.

Like I said, I have the fender rails off the standard/tourer, don't think I will go through the hassle of installing them again.

Are you never converting back? If you don't plan on putting the trunk on, I am looking for some parts off of one.

The quick release is important when swapping back and forth, but it doesn't address the need to attach a backrest/sissybar.

You need something like this deal. I have had this and hope to get it accomplished someday, but after all that I have seen, I think this is still the way to go. Good Luck!

Just ordered side rails from a standard or tourer from Valkyrie Bling and more. Says they look like new, $119.00. I thought it was a pretty good deal. Smiley

I got a decent deal on ebay on the Paladin quick-remove system. Ultimately I was going to have to buy a sissy bar plus a cruiser bar for when I went solo. It was worth it to me to be able to pull the whole thing off fast and avoid the cruiser bar altogether.

Same here Millard. We wanted to come badly, but things just aren't working out for me to ride much this year. I have been out of town nearly every week since March; and now we are moving this week, so we have lots of excuses it seems. We hope to see you guys soon though. Take care and Ride Safely!
