Hi all, new to VRCC.  I no longer own a Valk but I have a set of Interstate saddlebags that needs new locking latches.  Honda wants way too much money for them.  Are there any alteratives?  I want to use the bags on a custom project.

Try these folks:  Oz Powersports or any motorcycle salvage yard.

Wrecked Valkyries often end up with broken bags, but the latches are seldom destroyed.  A lock shop can re-key the locks for you in the range of ten to twelve dollars per lock.

Thanks.  I emailed Oz more than a month ago.  No answer.  I guess I will call them.  I have had no luck with any salvage near me (Tulsa area).  Not enough wrecked Valks I guess.  But that is a good thing.

I bought some used Valkyrie parts from a Honda dealer earlier this week. I'm pretty sure there was a saddlebag latch assembly in their without the actual key tumbler. I'll look tomorrow.

Thanks,

Mark

I called Oz.  Since the latches are discountinued they will sell the latches by the piece just like Honda does.  They want a fax of the Honda diagram and the parts I want are to be circled then they will give prices.   The price for each part are Honda, Bike Bandit, and then Cheapcycleparts.

Bag Lock::::$28.24: $24.38: $18.63
Lock Assy:::$68.71: $61.89: $47.28
Lock Rubber::$3.76:  $3.89:   $2.97
Setting Plate::$2.07:  $2.15:   $1.64
Nut::::::::::::$2.12:  $2.12:   $1.76

Total for parts needed-Honda $218.28 without tax:    BB $197.34 plus ship:   CCP  $151.70 plus ship

I found this out during my search-Latches are the same as used on '91-2002 ST1100.

I just need the parts that are on the bag.  The lids have the bracket for the latch to catch.  What size are the nuts?  I think I can get them cheaper than $2.00 each.
