The parts guy at the lacal Honda dealer has a son who works for a towing compny. They often do repo pick ups for area banks. Years ago a banker friend of mine called these type of guys "the hook".
Another local towing company (in the last several months) over borrowed and bought a bunch of new expensive trucks with, apparently, little income to support the purchases, at least the payments weren't made for many months.
The lending bank hired the company the son works for to pick up the vehicles not being paid for.
Seems the son is an attentive lad. he was driving along a local street and saw a tow truck, on the repo list, in a lot. It was hauling a pickup truck on the back.
He stopped and went to the tow truck (engine running) and took it away. He got the tow truck not being paid for (repo) and the truck on the back which was also not being paid for and on the repo list too. He double dipped and grabbed two at once!
Not to let it rest, the kid showed smarts on the next one. The repo prone company had a huge tow truck used to haul tractor trailers. These cannot be towed except by something equally large which the company the son works for does not have. The kid rented a large Ryder or Hertz box truck, drove it somewhere, stopped, and called the repo prone company to tow it to a shop for repair. The jumbo tow truck arrived. The tow truck driver left it running and got out to check on the other truck needing a tow. The kid hopped in the jumbo truck and took it away.
How smart was that kid?
Neither company hauls Valks (there, it's related).
