Aug 2008 we set out for Sturgis. We brought Kits truck payment to mail while we were out there. We were eating at DQ in Spearfish when we asked a guy where the post office was. He said I'm going and could take it, I have a stack of other mail from bikers. I think this guy ran the DQ. Cool. A month later her finance place calls and said they never got last month payment. Huh?  Shocked So we had to pay twice to catch up. Kinda forgot about it till today. We kinda brushed it off as lost mail. I get a large envolope from the Postal Inspection service. It says that my mail-truck payment- was found in a abondon storage unit in Sioux Falls SD used by a suspect in a mail theft case. He was sentanced to one year and since the case was now closed they no longer need this as evidence. Well how about that! I have the check-unsigned- and original envelope. If I had any finacial loss to contact them. I guess I'm gonna back track and see if she had any late fees and such and see what they will do.

...in the past when I had outstanding loans on motor vehicles....the Finance Company would send me a form letter a month before Christmas...telling me how they know this is a "tight time" for alot of folks, and with that thought in mind they would...in the spirit of Christmas.."forgive the December payment" if I wanted...and tack it onto the back end of the loan. Ofcourse they would also collect "monthly interest" on that months payment...until the loan was paid in full....ontop of the total interest on the life of the loan...I always thanked them..and politely declined.

You might want to make sure your Finance Institution didnt do the same.

Don't know if it's related or not, but the time frame is near the same,

My wife works for a pharmacy and they mailed out some stuff about that same time. Never got there. Figured it got lost and they resent it. They just got the meds returned this past week with a statement that it was being held as evidence in a mail theft case.
