OK...This is to all you guys out there that have posted pictures on this site. JR sent me some onfo on how to post pix but I just did not get it. Thanks to you anyway JR...That was nice. I rode up to Estes Park yesterday & took some pix with my NIKON D300. The pix are 3216 X 2136. I do not have a clue what that means. The GUIDELINES for uploading pix on this site says AT LEAST 640 X 480. Does AT LEAST mean they can be bigger??? I have a program called: Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 & I used it to get the photos that I want to post down to somewhere real close to 640 X 480 & submitted them & they still must not be going through. So, I put the Pix I took yesterday & some earlier ons on CD's & I am going to take them up to Wolf Camera & see if they can get them down to 640 X 480. Who knows, maybe that will work. DANG!!!! Well anyway, if you have any information that will help please send it along. Thanks. tommy t IBA 90. Oh yeah, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to ALL the mothers out there.

The size you need to be concerned with to get a photo onto to photo stash is 100k  if its over 100k it will not load on photo stash...  I size mine on photoshop and basically there are 4 at least 4 ways to shrink a picture.  First reduce the pixels to 72....thats all the computer can use anyway.....then crop it to 5X7 or so , darken bright pictures especially if LOTS of chrome is involved and lastly degrading the quality until it gets below 100K.  Hope that helps

Open a photobucket account to start with

http://photobucket.com/

Create a new album and then upload photos from your PC.

Post a reply once you've done this and the next steps will be revealed.

See the link below, has a free download. You load the picture you want to resize, and it gives you a number of size choices. I noticed your settings are quite high which you can change on your camera. My photos usually come out in the 800-900kb range and I use 25% when I want to reduce it enough for Photostash here. I then go to the IrfanView program and click on "sharpen" which will do just that. Plus with Irfanview you can change the various hues and tones, brighten up the picture, etc., very useful. Both are free downloads and work great. This pic started out at 898kb and I used the two programs below to downsize and sharpen/enhance the photo, which is now about 84kb and quite clear. Give it a try.

Really, guys, stop pushing photostash.  It's primitive and it's a pain to use.

Photobucket is a usable option.  The VRCC also offers another option, Just Pics, which is easier to use than photostash.

You don't really post pictures on this message board.  You link to pictures on this message board and the message board software goes out to get it to include the picture in the display.  Size restrictions are a function of the place you're storing your pictures, not the message board.

That said, if you point to a picture that's really small it will be really small when the message board displays it.  The message board will reduce the size of the display, but it won't make it larger.

Tommy,

Photobucket is really easy cause once you've uploaded the photos to the web site all you do is cut and paste their link into your VRCC message and voila there's the photo for everyone to see.

You can also send your non Valk buddies a link to the photos.

I would like to thank everyone who replied to this post. I tried everything possible & still no PIX went thru. Tomorrow is the High Country Cruiser Club meeting & I am taking the Photo CD's to the meeting & maybe someone there can assist me with getting them posted. Even a guy from work who is really good with this kind of thing tried with no luck. VERY STRANGE.  I even went to FOX Photo to have them sized correctly for posting.  Anyway, I will try tomorrow & see what happens. It's finally not snowing or raining today. Am cleaning up the bike for the meeting tomorrow. I hope everyone has a really good week-end. Ride safe. Tommy t IBA 1990. Thanks again to all who replied.
