what i done was go to lowe's hardware or any hardware store would have this.. get a peice of pipe insulation. the kind that is split and slips over the pipe. i think i used 3/4 inch..cut it to the lenth ya need and shove it up inside the front. serves 2 perposes. noise goes away. and also when ya get caught in a rain storm ..no more water coming threw there getting on the inside of your winshield.   cooldude

The actual problem is this:
If you look up inside the vent, you will see 2 pieces that constitute the duct. They overlap, and as wind pases over them, make a reed. So you get a whistle.
All the fixes offered address this. What I did was get some black electrical tape and cover the joint in the duct. That stopped the whistle. Then, to slow the bugs and rain, I folded up some furnace filter material and stuffed it in the duct. It hid in there pretty well. It also let the breeze thru but not the bugs and very little of the rain.

Yeah, I keep mine plugged with a piece of black foam rubber.  The only time I take it out is for the hottest days of the year.

I took my faring apart this winter and reassembled it using foam strip insulation between the windshield and faring.  I also duct taped the seams in the vent assembly.  One or the other took care of the whistle.

Thanks All!!! That did it.. A 4 inch piece of aluminum tape across the seam did the job.. Just need to make a But Plug for the vent for bad weather..
