Especially when they're intermittent. After finishing installing the 6 degree rake kit and everything was back together, I cranked up the bike and moved it outside for some pics....the ones I posted on the General Board a few days ago. All was well in Camelot. Later in the day, went out to do some badly needed cleaning and when I turned the key on to start it...the right turn signal came on. What the heck....it finally timed out after 90 seconds. I have the Signal Dynamics Penta Star module installed along with Harley controls, can't use it with the OEM Valk single turn button. That has driven me nuts the last 4-5 days because it's intermittent....sometimes it will work fine, other times the right turn comes on as described. I've checked everything until I'm seeing wires in my sleep, pulled the headlight and pulled the wiring out of the bucket...found no shorts or loose wires. I have since then pulled, twisted, and yanked on the wiring, did the Teaberry shuffle, fussed and almost lost my religion but to no avail. I found nothing....and it still was intermittent...sometimes worked normal....sometimes the right turn came on with the key. I took the right side switch box apart to check the turn button on that side(remember...they're HD controls). Found nothing, the brake light button type switch had a broken housing so left it all apart while waiting for a new one to come. It had nothing to do with the problem....it was still intermittent.

So, last night after picking up around the area I just walked away from it and went to bed. It hadn't worked right for the last half of the day yesterday....wasn't even intermittent, was screwed up all the time. Got up today, figured a fresh start would help after a little exercise so took off for an 8 mile bicycle ride. Got home, cleaned up, trimmed some stuff in the yard, had some lunch then walked out to the garage with fear and trepidation, wondering what I could check next. Put the key in, turned it on and VOILA....it worked as it should, the turn signals only came on when I pressed the respective buttons. I stood there and tried all three timed sequences....9 seconds to a max of 115 seconds, plus the four way. All worked perfect. Shut it off, back on, perfect. The fool thing worked perfect all day long....and it wasn't when I closed up shop last night. I did nothing to it unless I fixed it while sleep walking. I have no idea why, maybe somebody else got Murphy's attention....you know....Murphy's Law!!  I don't know what to expect in the morning, and I'm afraid to take any long drives although it does run OK when it's doing that.

I even called Signal Dynamics and asked a tech if they've ever had that problem show up before, thinking maybe the module had gone bad. They gave me three scenarios, the first two didn't apply as far as I could determine...a shorted/loose wire or stuck switch. The third was simply if the module failed it wouldn't be intermittent, in fact the circuitry wouldn't allow it to work at all so that pretty much ruled that out as well. I was ready to run the fool thing into the pond across the way....right near the eighth hole tee box where a small gator is helping thin out the neighborhood cat population. I go throw stuff in the pond for him sometimes, hope he stays around a few more months.  Evil

Just a wild guess. Check and make sure a wire was not caught in the upper part of the triple tree. I was changing out my steering bearings and when I put it back together part of my sound system went out. Finally found them pinched in the upper part of the triple tree when I torqued the bearing up.

I'm ahead of you on that one Dave, I actually tied the wire bundles off to each side to get them out of the way. It's going to be interesting to see if the gremlin rears his head again, so far today it's fine.
