Time is getting short --- it won't be long before folks are polishing their Valks, packing up their t-shirts and heading West to the Greatest Memorial Weekend Gathering around these parts!!

If you haven't signed up yet but think you might be coming --- give Bandit or I a shout -- we are trying to finalize our head counts for BBQ on Sunday.

Remember  Sunday BBQ is a $10 donation to the Melrose Food Bank (Tucumcari Ride-in Charity).  As always I promise you there will be no disappointment!!  Plenty of grub for all!

Looking for a VolunteerFor our Saturday afternoon gathering we're hoping to have a tech session --- Now I know out of the group of you signed up several of you are pretty good with tinkering with these Valks --- I'd really appreciate it if someone (Misfit -- HotGlue -- Willow) someone ... would volunteer (or even a couple of you) to do a tech session for us.  I'm sure there will be several that would be as appreciative as I.

So --- how about it guys --- or gals?  How about it?

Give me a shout and we can discuss it if you'd like --- or just throw your hand up and I'll trust you can handle it!   Cool

It's been a long year and I'm so looking forward to visitin with you all!

What will your tech session be on?  How to slide on your thigh and watch your Valk go sliding by with your son on the back?

I am ready too.  Only 8,337 miles so far this year.  Need some time in the saddle.

How about some requests for tech session subjects.  That way we could be sure it is needed and well attended.  I could do one on timing belts, valve adjustments, coolant change, or maybe the final drive (though I'm not pulling my rear wheel in the Blue Swallow parking lot without a lift!)

Exact idea we had Dave --- Maybe if anyone has a specific request -- a topic they would like to see covered?

I agree with the dirt parking lot -- and limited tools it may not be an easy task.  I spoke with Misfit and maybe we could just do a Q&A session instead?  Might not even be enough interest in a tech session -- was originally SCains idea -- but in lieu of his absence I thought we'd toss it up and see where it went.

I do have an idea --- how about if I bring my new velocity stacks and lights and some of you great guys install them for me?   coolsmiley

How about it folks --- any suggestions/topics?  Do we want a tech session?

Here's your chance to be heard --- hard to believe this group doesn't have OPINIONS!   uglystupid2

I think that most folks coming to Tucumcari do a fair amount of wrenching on their bikes. I am not sure that we need a tech session here. I could be wrong but I think that if someone is having a problem or has a tech question that we will be able to help them. This is suppose to be a ride in like a backyard bbq. Not a rally with vendors, tech sessions, formal rides and such. I just don't want the folks that put this thing together to think that they have to do new and better things each year to keep us interested in coming back. One of the best things about this gathering is the informalities. I vote that we just hang out and enjoy the company and if someone has a problem or a question that we all do all that we can to help them out. There are other gatherings that are shutting down because it turned into to much hassle for the folks laying out the $$ and puting in all of the time and effort. Sometimes less is more. On the other hand folks that know me know that I will do whatever it takes to make this year a success and if that means that the folks showing up want a tech session then I will do one. Does anyone have an idea on what they need a tech session on? In can't wait to hang out with all of you again. Bring it on! cooldude

I have to agree.  Sometimes it feels like the original spirit of gatherings gets lost in the constant quest to get better, when best was what you started with - good friends, good food, good times.

Remember the stort about the folks who took their first cruise?  They didn't want to "waste" the money they spent by just sitting around, so they participated in every game/function on the ship's calendar.  And didn't enjoy the trip at all ...

I think the Tucumcari gathering is exactly what it should be.

And how could you top a wedding, anyway?

My 2 cents worth:
This will be my first event and I could go either way on the tech session.

Time off from work, not having to worry about livestock (ok I will anyway), riding, putting faces to the names from this board, visiting Ute lake where I learned to water ski about a bazillion years ago, soaking up some warm weather will be really nice.

I get most of my tech how-to info from this board and although -I- have made a couple of oops, it has been right on the money. I do have this 4deg trigger wheel that someone could demonstrate how to install though Wink I would not mind a bit.  Roll Eyes

Sister wants me to clear out all my stuff that I left in her barn whilst I was overseas so I will be trailering to the Marble Falls, Tx area. However the more stuff I bring with me, the less room I will have to tote junq back. This is a good thing and the basic plan. If desired I could bring my (Harbor Fright) floor jack/motorcycle lift along. I plan on bringing some hand tools anyway.

but I think it will fit in to our travel plans to come by there on the way home.  If we don't make it y'all can eat our share and tell us where to send the donation.  Would be good to see some old friends and make some new ones.

If he doesn't "behave"?  Hmmm........

Do we want to help keep the poor boy out of trouble, or add some excitement to the weekend by finding out what tops the wedding?
