A good friend of mine was having a '5 Alive' party...  Celebrating 5 years on the green side of the sod, since having one of her kidneys removed due to Cancer.

The location of the shindig, was about 55 miles north of my place, and we were having a fine Wisconsin day...  Temps in the 60's and hazy sunshine...l  I'm takin' da Bike  uglystupid2

The place, 'The Roadhouse', in Dundee Wisconsin, is in the middle of no where, and a 'Biker' bar!  Not often ya see 'Milwaukee Outlaws', and Milwaukee 'Top Hats', sharin the same parking lot...  Now, I know that I've got the baddest bike on the block, but when parked among a sea of HD, with their owners drinking near by...  I get nervous (I once had someone lay a lit cig, on the seat, and burn a nice hole in it...).  So I try to go and take a peak at my baby every so often...  No issues, they all seem to be there for the same reason - Drinking and listenin' to the band.

When it came time for me to leave, I walk out, and there are six guys sporting the 'Milwaukee Outlaw' colors, and a few other, leather clad owners, standing in a circle, around the Valk...  I walk on over, pop open a saddle bag, and start 'gearin' up'...  One of the OL dudes sez, "so and so says that's a Honda..."  I say 'yep, a Valkyrie'...  He sez "That's a big Fu@k!n engine"...  I say '1520 cc, and 6 cylinders'...  He sez, Does it sound like a Honda?  I say no...  Packs n Stacks...  And I fire her up...  More than one eyebrow was raised...  OL dude sez "Bet that's all day smooth"...  Feeling an opening, I ask if anyone has a nickle?  Once handed one, I procede to stand it up (engine still running), and bounce the Tach over 3K a few times...  All of them just bust out laughing...  One sez to the 'leader', "Try that with your bike, and we'd be lookin' for the nickle across the street"...  Lotsa good 'props', and a bit of drool, from a nice buncha HD guys...  It was fun, and when I left, I managed to break the rear tire lose, for just enough to make 'em back up a bit...

My name is Steve, and I'm a Valkoholic...

Good to hear!  cooldude No worries tho. Ive partied right along quite a few bike gangs with no problems. From Outlaws to Peacemakers and a few in between. They never have talked trash or did anything to it. At a rally a few years ago, the x-wife brought my truck and some gang from MI was there for their annual rally. A few were sitting on the tailgate. No biggie. Another came up and asked it it was alright. Sure. He made sure everyone was gentle to it and did not trash it up. He sat there all weekend watching it.

I rode NOTHING but Harley Dressers for some 29 years, and some of my closest friends and riding buddies were at the local Harley custom shop. Because of our history, I actually brought my Valk to my old "home' for tires and install of the Cobras. When they were done, everyone agreed that my rig was one of the baddest sounding bikes in their shop...and they're always thrilled when I roll by with a sack of bagels. "we always know it's you when you pull up Mike," they say. "The sound of that six is a real change from everyone else's potato-potato."
I find that I have to keep in touch with a regular supply of food, as I no longer leave a trail of monies for continuous "services and adjustments."      Mike in New York

I don't go around Bike Gangs, I make them uneasy, like the Indians would not bother with Crazy

Poeple and the Bikers must have the same Creedo as the Indians because they walk on the

other side of the street than me if they see me.

They will only approach me in packs and ask me not to call them names when I see them.

They may kill me one day, but never show any fear with people like that.

If you are ready to die , they become shy.

Learned that when I was a kid out in the country, a certain group of people outnumbered me.

They came in my yard lookin for trouble, one broken axe handle later no more trouble wiht the neighbors.

Bullies are usulally dumb and want to be your friend if they think you will kill them outright.

Just a tip.

But Don't leave your Honda out of sight wiht them in the area, they are chicken crap as a group.

Nickel trick is real easy.

Side stand down.

Stand a nickel on end on the right valve cover.

Start the engine.

Give the Phat lady some rev's and watch their eyeballs as it keeps standing.

It might turn on ya one the cover about 4 grand, but it won't tip over.

I have been able to do it with a dime a couple of times.

Not above 2,500 rpm's however.

Steve,

Sounds like your experience could have gone either way... turned out good though.. it's possible my brother-in-law was there. I think he's in the "Top Hats"...but I'm not sure...we don't talk bikes much or politics when we're together.  I think the  Road House is where I stopped in for a big ol' burger 2 years ago...

That place on the corner is also good for food too... less "biker-ish"

I've had a drunk HD biker try to pick a fight with me just because I had a Honda... he tried everything to insult me and my bike... I was startin' to get a little up for a argument when his sober friends stuffed him into a car, apologized, explained his bike has been on the workbench all season and they took off down the road with him before he could find the door handle and get outta the car to continue with me... funny... for about 2 minutes, I took him seriously...til I found out his bike was NOT RUNNING at the time...

You meet the nicest people on  a Honda..... Wink

I went to many a bike night on my Interstate.  Some would ask what it was, some wouldn't.

Glad is was a good experience.

All that matters is that you ride, not what you ride.

I agree, but there are many who don't, unfortunately.

Put on 300 miles Saturday, 5 bar stops, riding with the "Sick Bastards".  Had a good time.  I knew one a little bit.  No problem.  Stopped at 3 cemeteries to pay our respects to some fallen heroes we knew on Armed Forces day.  God bless them all.

I Agree. I went to a swap meet a long time ago ( over 30 years) on a Magna and caught some crap on the way in the parking lot from the HD boys. I've never got anything but stares on the Dragon.
