My son-in-laws uncle was killed when a SUV blew a yield sign and killed him on his bike. On Rt 207 in Hamptonburgh NY. The irony of it was my daughter was passing the accident scene and was stopped at the scene while they cleared the road. She saw the mangled bike and Sal on the side of the road, covered not knowing it was Sal. All this with a car full of kids including Granddaughter who Sal as her Grand uncle cherished and spoiled.
Sal was 61 years old and a long time, much loved teacher at Chester Elementary School. He was an accomplished educator, builder and master roofer. Salt of the earth. A long time and cautious rider.
I am trying hard not to be reduced to profanity. Don't trust any cage or traffic sign. This truly sucks.

Man dude.  You and your family have my sincere condolences.

I saw an accident avoided today, but a guy in a jeep wrangler that did some VERY fancy driving in order to escape a daffy broad in a SUV trying to kill him.

They are everywhere.

that sucks.  almost lost a good friend this year 'cause an old guy didn't see him as he pulled out infront of him.  thankfully he lived!

it should be a law that everyone that holds a auto liecens be required to ride a cycle in traffic filled with idiots on their cell phones etc...

Sorry to read that.

I have drivers trying to kill themselves by pulling out in front of my big yellow school bus many times a day.

We riders have the odds stacked against us.  Angry

Very sorry to hear about your friend's passing. You just can't trust what a cager will do. Here in Charleston some guy ran into the rear of 2 motorcycles that were stopped at a red light. Both of the riders were killed......the cager was cleared of wrong-doing and was given a ticket for "Too fast for conditions." This is really some BS. Hell yeah he was in the wrong, otherwise how could he run over the bikes. You shoot a dog and get 20 years in the slammer...kill a biker and get a speeding ticket...go figure.

Steve I am very sorry to hear about Sal.  Losing a friend is an awful kind of hurt.

Prayers for he and his family and hope this is the last we hear of bikers getting run down for some time. Seems like it happens more and more.

Sorry to hear of the loss of a friend.

Thoughts and prayers are headed your way for his family and anyone else involved....

I watched this one girl, blow a stop sign making a right hand turn for about 2 weeks every morning at the same time.   I was headed to therapy everyday for those 2 weeks.   Oh, she was pulling out in front of me in this process.

Made a call to the PD, they set up and unmarked car with a Black and white down the hill.     She blew the sign and got pulled over for it, was issued a citation.  She went to court and the firkin Judge let her off.

Blows my mind on how some of these lawyers can hog wash the charge and get it dismissed.    But, that is what they are hired to do.

Bonzo,
So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, Sal. It's a sobering experience that makes us question why we ride sometimes. I've been through it from the perspective of someone who was about done in by a careless cager. Prayers go out to you and Sal's family.

Sorry for your loss, these situtations are making me nervous because my lady jsut bought her first bike at age 39. She took the MSF course and got her endorsement but you can be a very safe rider and still get struck down. It doesn't worry me when I ride but l have a hard time when she rides.
