because I will usually have my cell on a ride, but not always the camera.  I just got a new cell phone that takes pictures.  I didnt pay for the "on-line" features so emailing pictures is out.  I thought I should be able to wire up to the PC and download pics to my puter????????  Is that not doable, anyone know how????  The charger port has a USB sign on it and the wall charger also plugs into a USB port for charging........I was hoping for sliding pics over as well but Im thinking not so much now, cant figure it out

Should be able to download them when connected to the usb port or just bluetooth them over. That's what I do.  cooldude

If you have cell service from one of the main companies like AT&T, Verizon, etc., and your phone is capable of sending pictures, you shouldn't have to "buy" that service extra to be able to send from the phone. I'm using a phone that's almost four years old and have always been able to send photos, and the bill and contract say nothing about it...it's part of the service. The phone I had prior to that I also could send photos from, so I'm wondering if you might be doing something wrong.

I can take pictures from my phone just like taking them from a digital camera. Also I can charge my phone from my computer. Your phone should have come with the software to do this stuff. Check out the packaging that your phone came in. Also you usually can get the software from the phone manufacturers website. cooldude

I have ATT and without a data plan you have to pay extra to email the pics to yourself. They charge something like $1 each.

I have an extra mini SD card that is removable that I save all of my pictures to. Then I can stick it in the laptop and copy the pics over to it.

This is easy to check out. Have your phone plugged in to the charger cord but unplug the usb style end from the wall adapter and plug it in to your computer's USB port. If your computer then states that it "found" your usb connection(your phone) you should now be showing an extra drive on your computer. If you have XP or Windows 7, you should be able to right click the start option and then "Explorer". If it shows a new drive letter, that should be your phone/card. You should then be able to copy or download your pics to your puter. Good luck.

We have the "free" phones that come with our ATT plan... they can take (pretty lousy) pictures... I
don't pay for email or anyway to download the pictures either...

I just looked up my phone model on eBay and easily found someone who sells a usb adapter and a
driver, for $5 or 6$ dollars, and now I can download the pictures to my computer...

Well, thanks guys......not done trying yet but still cant do it.  And, at least my plan (Verision) charges for each text and each picture so I had that part blocked.  I never had a camera phone before, and Im really not interested in sending pictures from my phone, thats what I use my computer for...........technology!!!!!!    Sad

Check with a Verizon store.  They'll probably want to sell you a mini sd card. its worth it if you take a lot of pics on the phone. I have a similar plug and can plug it inti the usb port. Windows XP recognizes it and ask if i want to copy pics. You can transfer to your computer this way.

Does it have a removable storage card? If it does and your PC has a card reader just put the pictures on the card (should be an option), pull the card, insert into reader and you got pictures on your PC.

Another option may be to go back to the store and ask the guy how you can upload pictures from your phone to your PC.

Jeff, This should work. You might also check to see if you have any software that came with the phone to load to your computer. My Blackberry has its own program to transfer files via usb.

I do it the other way around.   I bought a pocket sized digital camera.  I carry a cable that connects it to the computer when I get to the office, or home.

I make any necessary calls when I get home or to work.  Never will understand the need to always be connected by phone.    Booze, drugs and cell phones - all can be addictive.   Not my cup of tea.

I wish I could get my wife to leave her cell at home sometimes.  Her April phone bill: $104.00   I repeat: $104.00!   Am I missing something here?    I mean, jeeze.    You can buy a lot of bike gas for that kind of dinero.   Do they sell a phone with unlimited minutes for under $25.00/month?

Can you state which carrier and what phone you have.  Whether or not you can do this depends on both.  Verizon and AT&T usually do not sell a PC or Blackberry operating system based phone without selling the data package so I am wondering what phone you got.  You have not stated that you are paying for a data package, and you would surely know if you were.

Did you get software to have your cell phone communicate/sync with your PC?  This will usually download info to your PC through something like Microsofts ActiveSync.  I am not sure what the Blackberry system is called.

Is there a slot for an expandable memory card like a mini SD card which is a small version of the card currently used by most digital camera's?

I have Verizon and I do not have a data package....in fact I had texting and all web services cancelled so no one can send me garbage (you have to pay for the incomming ones too)  I, know....thats why I cant send pictures to my PC.....I was just hoping I could hardwire transfer them....apparantly this phone is limited in its technology.  no sim card or memory card.

I have a T mobile cell (I know, lousy coverage), but I take a pic, it asks if I want to send it to my album on my t mobile site, when it gets there I can drag it to my photo bucket site.  No cost other than the call time to send it to my album.  Hoser

Here's an example of an LG Accolade (model number is important) solution:

They don't want you to have this $6 solution, they want you to buy a "service" and pay them $X every month...
it is not in their best interest to sell these things, or to stock them, or to know right off hand where to get them.

I got one for my phone first thing. The 1 megapixel camera is so awful, I never use it  Wink ...

BINGO! Everyone i work with or hang out with around here ALWAYS seems to have a cell phone not only on them...but on. so they're calling folks...taking calls...constantly. And so i listen. Typically....99% of the calls....are MEANINGLESS babble. NOTHING of importance. you know, just talking to be talking.

To each their own....hey, i trailer to events often  Cheesy

But FOR ME, i only carry a cell phone for EMERGENCY use. you know, if i breakdown. i don't even turn mine on FOR MONTHS at a time....SERIOUSLY! in fact, sometimes i turn it on...when months have gone by...just to make sure the battery still has a charge!

My cell is OLD technology. but it works for me....  I also turn it on and use it a few times when i'm on the road. like i'll carry it and turn it on when working as Staff at biker rallies...or when on the road working for my company.

But at home...............it goes months without being turned on. Oh, another thing i don't get. Texting. tried it TWICE. FAR, FAR to aggravating. Instead of texting, for me, i recommend PICKUP THE PHONE AND TALKING  Grin

BUT AGAIN, i know different strokes for different folks. Sherry ALWAYS has her "crackberry" with her. It's CONSTANTLY on. if she aint callin' someone...or texting....she's surfing the internet...or playing a game...or........

Likewise, i've NEVER been on facebook, twitter, etc. Folks try to tell me what all the fuss is about, but i just don't get that either.......

this, from a guy who WORKS ON NETWORKS BIG TIME..........for a living! i'm glad YOU guys do it, but i have ZERO use for it.................  Wink cooldude

Ditto on most of what you said.  My cell phone, which is my only phone, also doubles as a portable computer with Windows operating system. I sync it with my office puter and my home puter to keep them connected and so I always have all my info at hand when I am on the road.  While my account gives me about 450 minutes I seldom go over 80 per month and that is with family and friends in four different states.  Text messaging is also shut off.  I think people just spend too much time on the phone talking and texting especially when driving.  Then they have little to nothing to say when they actually meet the other person.   Someone walks into my house I ask them to shut off their cell phone.  If they don't like that idea I ask them to put it on vibrate and if they decide to answer a call they go outside.  If they don't like it they can leave.
