We were at St. George Island this past weekend for my younger brother's wedding. Saw some of this info on the local channel. The host motel for VOB is at Mexico Beach, about 40 miles west on 98, but we will take a ride to Apalachicola on Sat. for lunch and hit the shops and or take a ride out to St George Island. We devoured a bag of oysters in about an hour on Friday evening. They were harvested on Thursday, shrimp were caught on Thursday, and the fish were caught on Friday. Just to say, if you like ridin, eatin fresh seafood, and the company of fellow Valkers, then ya gotta be there. There will be plenty to go around.

We'll stay at El Governor Motel, Oct 29-31. 888-648-5757
Rooms are $60.
Pics and more info to follow.

Damn the decisions.  Valkyries on the Beach to the east of me, Romp in the Swamp to the west of me, both about the same distance and on the same weekend.   Undecided

When I checked with staff, there wasn't a Romp on the Swamp on the calendar, so we picked that date and published it. I've sent a message to see about the possibility of changing dates. We are not neccesarilly locked into that date but didn't want to get too late into the year.

I don't have a dog in this race however I do know when Swoopie had Dragons On The Beach it was in November and it was a ride we always looked forward too. The Veterans Day weekend would also give folks a extra day to travel ....Just sayin'  Smiley  I've never been able to make The Swamp Ride cause they always scheduled the date  right on top of The Fall Color Ride we have ( 3rd weekend in Oct every year ) in Robbinsville, NC .It's hard for working folks to take two weekends off that close together with motel ,food , gas ,etc coming out of the pocket....Again I have no dog in this race and I give no guarantee that I'll attend any of them other than the annual " The Fall Color Ride "  out of Robbinsville, NC. but a few weeks slack on the pocket would make the call much easier on my part  cooldude
