I have an intact OEM Exhaust and a pair of additional intact rear baffles to be used as silencers when wanted. Also a set of 18" 4" cans/tips.
I seem to read a conflict or I'm just misunderstanding the Ragner Mod web site.
If I leave the front OE baffle 100% intact and only fully open up the rear baffle do I even slightly require needle shimming?
I don't mind needle adjustments. But, the problem is I would prefer to slip the silencers in the tips on a whim without having to adjust the needles each time I do insert or remove the silencers.
If an intact forward baffle only requires needle shimming I'll likely not pursue the mod, but I would like too!

Off topic, sort of  , appologies to DFragn. Hi Warlock, just curious where you set your pilots at? I ride an IS with a 4 degree TW. I just switched out the 35's for 38's and am putting in the Dial-a-Jet system, so I also switched out the slock mains for 95's. I was running lean before. I set my pilots to 1.75 and once I put it all together again I'll test out to see what the plugs look like. TIA Larry

I'm running the 38's, an I/S ICM, I/S Springs & the ECT advance mod [which I rarely use, has the pot] with stock needles on a '97 Tourer. I do have on hand a set of 5 position E-Clip needles, I think they're 5 slots if I remember. I'm guessing your on the 3rd position from the top if they're adjustable? Why do you feel comfortable running the after market needles with your setup? Would you feel it's a good idea for me to re-install my adjustable needles if I leave the front baffles alone and slip the silencers in every now & then for awhile?

I just opened up my pilots a quarter turn to 1.75 [sans Dial-A-Jet] as I was a little lean. I haven't checked the plugs since but it starts and cold idles better now. Mileage is still the same. Throttle response seems a little better, but that could be my imagination. I could be wrong, but I don't think the pilots affect the mains...

Thinking about installing stock needles also. David
