KILLING the bluegills on the beds the last 2 days.  We filleted about 150 of the tasty little boogers this weekend.  Ate 'em for dinner tonight too.  Ben at first said he didn't like fish... but ate 8 fillets once he got started.

I like catching crappies better, but I like EATING gills better.  I don't get to catch or eat walleyes.

Ol' Jabba Jr. there sure did his shate of EATING them tonight too.

I always keep reminding myself, and my nephew who has kids too, that you NEVER hear an old guy say... "You know... I wish I had worked a little more, and spent just a little LESS time with my kids."

One of the good things about being an OLD daddy, is that I have enough wisdom to KNOW that before it's too late.  B-Dog is my little buddy, and I am gonna try like hell to keep it that way.  He's got about 3 more years... and we'll be squirrell hunting and learning to shoot a little too.

There's LOTS of fishing to do between now anf then.

My brother says I was baiting my own hooks with MINNOWS when I was 4.  I don't remember that... but I don't remember learning how, so I guess I can't argue.

Looks like a Great time, I still remember my son's first fish. (25 years ago)  In fact he still has it, I have a buddy that was starting out in taxidermy back then and he mounted it for nothing. It sits on the wall in his den above the picture I took of him that day, much like the pic of your son.

I can still remember telling him about the rule that I could not take him fishing if he still wore diapers, a week later he was no longer wearing them so he could go with.

You will never regret days like that,

Spending time with your kids at that age is so much fun.  I had the pleasure of raising 3 sons and would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Making memories is better than money in the bank.  The memories stay with you whether you're wealthy or broke.  Their value is beyond money.

I still have memories of my dad taking me squirrel hunting at the age of 10.  I have a bittersweet memory of ME taking him hunting squirrels for the last time.

A fitting day for memories.
