Ordered new Interstate shocks for my 2000 Tourer. I observered that the part numbers were different for the right and left side, but the part numbers are not actually on the shocks themselves. I had already removed the standard shocks that my 2000 came with before the Interstate shocks were delivered. I observe that one of the interstate shocks have a bright metal (gold) bushing inside the rubber of the lower mounting stud and the other shock has a dull (black/brown) bushing inside the lowere rubber bushing. Can anyone tell me which shock is the right one and which is the left one? Thanks in advance to all replies.

They only fit one way...  One fits inside the groove on the pumpkin and the other fits on the swingarm.  I replaced mine with Progressive 440s, but I think the painted one goes on the left and the metal one goes on the right.

Another way: Take the 2 lower mounting bolts and try to put them in the lower mounts of the shocks. You'll find they only work one way.
