I ride a 2000 Standard. Lately the trip meter hangs up every once in a while. If I move it by the using the reset knob it will work again. Is there anyway to lube the unit or is that not the answer? I use it as a guage for gas fillups. TIA. Hef

There have been reports in the past, of issues as you describe, after resetting on a fill up...  The fix seems to be, when resetting the trip meter, rather than stopping at 000.0 on the first go round, roll past the 000.0 a few times, and it should work fine.

When I reset my tripmeter I have found that it will sometimes bind at 99.9 miles if I do not double-roll it back to zero. In other words, I roll it forward past zero and then forward again all the way to zero. It has never bound up if I do it that way, don't know why.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Mine did it once on a trip. It was 25 miles before I realized it wasn't moving!  crazy2

Like they said up in this thread.

Roll the mileage around past 00.0 2 or 3 times and it don't hang up.

When my speedo broke way back in like 98 or 99, I had a buddy who worked on speedo, made repairs and etc.

He took apart what was left and said their was a bushing needed on something in the trip mileage area.   He told me then who made the speedo for the Valk Std, Tourer, but my fur getter has done fur getted all that......

His simple solution was, put in a bushing.  Asked him where to get it and he said make it.  Told him then to shove it in a joking way, as he was playing with my mind.

Then jokingly, he said roll the trip meter about 3 or 4 times and it should work.

Now, I wish I'd of picked his brain before he went South of the border a few years ago.   He was like 90 when he made the permanent move.   Great guy.

Oh yeah, he also used to set speedo's back for all the dealers in town.   This was before they black balled that practice.

Some Hondas have done this for decades. Easiest fix is to reset it to 999.9 instead of 000.0. It only throws it off a tenth of a mile, but it never sticks that way.

I had a real problem one day wouldn't go past 99 miles and I must have gone at least 125 miles before it dawned on me I had been on 99 for to long.  uglystupid2  Needless to say pulled over at the next gas station and filled up. Had to replace the speedo not expensive and not hard to do
