I have had my Zumo for about 5 years  and recently noticed something. I don't know if I have become temporary brain dead or not.
At the top of the screen it shows the temperature and also a screen will pop up stating weather advisory.  Also the map screen will have a weather advisory button on it. I can't believe I never noticed it before. Has anyone noticed this, is this new or is life just going over my head.

That's generally an additional [for fee] service. It's been popping up on my Garmin 2730 and several brands of others too lately.
Maybe it's free now.  cooldude

Kind of interesting, what else can the Garmin do behind the scenes.
So is it they are advertising there goods then eventually hook us by denying us the service. Wonder if it has the ability to track us.

From my limited understanding you would need to have the XM antenna adapter (GXM 30)  to get the weather signals.

If you have a XM subscription maybe they are giving you the weather for free.

I don't have the XM antenna and don't get any weather advisories.  I have the latest maps and firmware.

Hope this helps ya.

GPS units are receivers, not transmitters. A GPS in a cell phone can transmit, but not nav units unless their built that way. Military and police are used this way.

I got an email from XM today saying that my "free trial" of XM NavTraffic and NavWeather is ending today.  Funny, since I have been paying for the service for over a year!  Anyway, looks like they gave a month of free service to get you hooked.  The service is $3.99 each or $7 for both.

I guess that is what it was. It was there way of advertising Garmin and XM services. I have  the antenna but I don't have any services.
