Just spotted a Key slot or switch on the left side of the bike below the Fuel switch (On, Off, Res)
and a little to the right of the Fuel switch. What's it for?

That is the release for the seat. The battery is stored under there and there is a space for registration, insurance, etc.

Find out what your lights are wired to.
If it a standard or tourer just open the head light bucet
Will more that likely find blown fuse.
