Coming home after work last night, I took the route I always take.  Crossed over a small bridge near some housing, and was met with fishing line strung between the bridge marker signs.  Couldn't see it until I was maybe 5-10 feet away.  Luckily, it wasn't far after a stop sign, so I was only going about 35-40mph.  Also luckily, I have the fairing and windshield, so that flipped it up high so that it caught me across the nose instead of across the throat like it would on a naked bike.  It did put a small cut on my nose before breaking the fishing line.  I stopped and inspected everything, no damage to the bike.  I found the remnants of the tape the little bastard that did it had put up earlier.  Didn't see any kids.  Cops came along as I was removing everything because someone else had already called them (I guess about the tape).  He said he thought he knew who it would be, as he'd had trouble with some boys about a year ago, and was going to go talk to them.  I'd hate to think what would happen with heavier line and no windshield.  Y'all be careful out there.

Seems to be a new fad for the hoodlums... I ran across something similar about a month ago in my neighborhood, but luckily the individuals who did it used bailing twine, which is rather visible floating up in the air, and isn't terribly strong. I saw it, came to a stop, reached up and yanked it down pretty easily... Still got my blood boiling that someone would even try something like that...

Back in the 70's I pulled into a lot and hit a piece of 3/4" rope.  Caught me across the chest the only reason it didn't cause any damage was because I had slowed for bump.  My girl was on with me.  I went to the campus security office and filed a complaint.  No interest.  The next morning their rope was in 3' sections.  No one ever figured out who did that.

Dangerous but not as nasty as barbed wire strung across an offroad motorcycle track near my home.
Fortunately it was found before someone ran into it.
Lots of sickos out there.

Happend to me back in the late 80's fortunatly it caught under my headlight bucket and snapped - but had it been much higher I would have taken it in the chest or worse as I did not have a windshield.
I found out who did it and that it was put there specifically for me. I was a little more impulsive and head strong in my youth - he found all 4 of his tires (on a jacked up 4x4) had drywall screws run into the sidewalks. A truce was called from there. Nothing good was going to come of our little feud - all over a girl of course.

I will not voice what I would do if it happened to me and I found out who it was. That is terrible and I'm glad you are ok.

Drywall screws,yes.
Tires,no.
A constant fear. I ride street and dirt and you never know who's gonna get funny.
I'd be less than humorous and compassionate.
