Well, I can't believe it. All the talk about how reliable Valks are and now at ONLY 11 years and 99743 miles, my son is going to have to spend $3 and 30 minutes of his time to change a shifter shaft seal!  Wink Geeezzz.

I met a guy at the dealer yesterday with a 97 that had 165,000miles on it! Wow! That thing was clean too! Looked better than some I've seen with 20k. Hope I can do that ! Grin

I know.  Between the Valk needing some kind of maintenance every 10 years and it raining here in Arizona every 100 days, its hard to get anything done.

If you run a Battery Tender 24 X 7, year round, when not riding, they will last onger.  My '99 IS is still on the original, with no signs or symptoms of a problem.   It is time to change it on principle, but I am curious how long it will go......stupidly so.

This is a guess but I'm bettin' VRCC member DDT has real close to  400,000 miles on his 1997 by now. As far as I know he's the man for high mileage. Several have over 200,000 RJ comes to mind being one of them.

Snohunter,

I can't help with the other items but you really don't have to worry about the Blinker Fluid. It's very easy to replace and basically free. Just go to your Dial Tone Tank and use that fluid. It's actually the same stuff!  cooldude

I still have the origional battery from my 99 Valk also and never had it hooked to a battery tender. I had an issue that I thought might be battery related so I put a new battery on only to discover that it was not the solution I was looking for. So I put my still good 99 Valk battery on my Rincon  4x4 and am still using it.

Just be sure you dont mix the left blinker fluid with the right blinker fluid. That can cause the Knutin Pin to come loose and you will feel occillation in the finsel strut.

Got the coolant reservoir tank replaced under warranty; cracked nipple where lower hose connects.  Other than that, the only failure has been a right front turn signal bulb and doing the start button maintenance to make the headlight come back.   Cool

Tim Bob from Alabama talked to DDT the other day and he had 385,000 on his 97.

I have 241,000 on my 97.......

Figure it will outlast me at this rate...  It will go to a good home when I croak, my son wants it.

The Trike with 206,000 on it will go to my youngest daughter.
