A few days after Inzane, I'll be in Chicago for a business convention.  The hotel I'm booked at has a $25 a day parking fee, which I'd very much like to avoid.  A friend offered me her garage, IF her kids get it cleaned out by then.  I'm not counting on it!

I'm thinking I might be able to rent a small storage unit for about a week and take a cab to and from Hyatt Regency O'Hare    at   9300 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Rosemont, IL.  Something big enough to store a Valk I/S and a Bushtec trailer.

Anyone in the Chicago area have any suggestions?

Thanks.

$25/day is not unusual for Chicago...(I think I paid $45 to park my rent car for a $30 lunch one time) but have you thought about something like this?

That sounds like what I'm looking for, if I can do it affordably.  Thanks.

Here is what I have been using for years. Affordable and dependable. 6 to 7 bucks a day.

You don't plan to ride the bike while at the convention? A single taxi ride, OK, daily cab rides?, you know how fast traffic moves in Checako right?

I've logged many hours in Chicago traffic over the last 15 years or so.  So, yes, I know about Chicago traffic - in fact, it was in Chicago I tore my left rotator cuff.  Stopped at a light, oil in the middle of the road, you know the scene.  I did NOT drop the bike, but my shoulder suffered from it for a long while.

I will not need the bike for the time I'm there.  Once I check in on Sunday afternoon, 7/25, I won't be leaving the complex until I check out on Friday morning 7/30.  The hotel is attached to the convention center, and I'll be involved with the event from approximately 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.

That's why I'd like a safe place to park the bike and trailer for the duration.  The hotel I used to stay at for these events had free parking AND a covered garage.  They're no longer on the event list, which means no shuttle bus.  So, I need a new strategy!

Won't that leave me 75 miles or so from my hotel?  Too far to walk, and I'm sure the cab ride would be much pricier than paying the hotel's parking fees .....

I appreciate the offer.

Lyn-Del, the hotel you're staying at won't give you a parking pass? Not been to Chicago, but they do this at the big hotels in Atlanta. Even when I've been to meetings and not stayed I could get my parking ticket validated and not have to pay.

It's the Hotel that's charging the $25 per day.

I guess I can call and see if there's a way around it, though.  Thanks for the idea

Actually I live in Valparaiso NW IN too and have a huge Barn with all my toys you could park in. Valparaiso has a daily bus service to Chicago

Don't know how the schedule fits you but you are more than welcome to park your bike next to my Valk and sit back and relax on the bus. Won't have to fight any traffic.
