Big time!!...... Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad......

I was reaching for something in one of the cabinets and a bottle of Heinz 57 fell out and took a big chip out of the glass top on our new flat top stove.....craps!!!....and since I had just finished cooking on it, several cracks spiderwebbed from the chip.....the Wife is really upset.... Cry......I hope the glass cooktop can be replaced without the whole oven having to be replaced.

Oh Stanley I'm sorry.  That really sucks.  I bet you get to replace the WHOLE thing.  My mom has one of those.  She had it replaced about 2 yrs. ago.

Good luck with whatever happens.  Stay safe and go with the flow.

I would "Google" around for different prices.  You would be surprised how much they vary on appliance parts.  Get one ordered in and do it yourself.  You can change oil and light bulbs on a Valk, how hard can a cook top be?  A few screws and a connector plug I bet.  Turn off the power first!  Go for it and impress your sweetie with your abilities.

Steamer, really sorry to hear that, I hate it when I accidentaly damage something of value. Like when I wacked my new hard bag with my weedeater (after she told me, "you better move your bike")
Hope you can get it fixed replaced.

My Mom bought us a new washer and dryer back in 1996 when I was married and the Wife has only let me use them a couple of times......maybe that's why they still work today??... Grin Grin Grin

Hmmmmm.....I'm not even sure what our deductible is?....it's probably larger than what it'll cost to replace it, but I plan on letting the appliance store do it....I'd probably break it trying to replace it... Cheesy

Pilot Lights ???, haven't used them in years, my appliances are all gas, electronic ignition in all of them, even the dryer. Almost impossible to screw up.

UPDATE........

I may be out of the Dog House now......only cost me $404.22.......

I'm glad I opted to pay the appliance place to install the new top.....OURS was one of the "more difficult" ones.....the guy had to take out about 3 dozen screws....unhook 4 or 5 electrical connections, disassemble the front control panel....yada yada.....what a PIA!!.....he was a Pro though and had it done in about an hour including the time to check out the function of the new glass.....there went my $$ for a new set of tires...... Sad Sad Sad Sad
