Yes. The 1 gallon or slightly more is available. Will not be used until you switch to reserve.

As MP said... When mine starts misfiring (when the problem does not come from the petcock, but that is another story...) I turn the knob to reserve and she starts running normally right away. Don't forget it in the reserve position when you get to the gas station though... or the next time, you won't have any fuel left when she runs dry.

Baloo - Did you pin your fuel problem down to the petcock?

Not yet... since a few told me that they had pretty much the same problem with the petcock, I put the cover kit on order at the stealership... waiting for the parts to come in in a few days. I'll work on it this week-end and I'll use the bike to go to work (which I don't usually do) so I can test it to see if the problem's gone. I'll post with the results...
Thanks for inquiring!

My buddy Steve had his go when we were on a trip to Key West. A few days before we left, it was sputtering a bit, so he took it to the stealer and they sold him new plugs (ahh.... yeah...). Morning of the second day it started fine, but by the time all the H-Ds had warmed up enough to ride, he ran out of gas (filled the tanks night before). I pulled off #6 vac line and gave her a little kiss in the motel parking lot. Like breathing through a straw! Pulled the tank and checked the line, it was good, so we flipped it over (full tank) and pulled the petcock apart. Got some RTV Gasket sealer and smeared it on both sides of the vac diaphram, hit it with a blow dryer and were back on the road in under 1 hour!

LOL! I'll remember that one!
Acutally installed a kit in the petcock, but never had a chance to ride the bike and test it, as I found a fork seal leaking. I'm now waiting for the parts for the fork to come in...
