I was planning a short motorcycle trip to Ohio when I heard about a strange event there. I was wondering what it meant. Here’s what I’ve learned from listening to right wing conservative Christian fundamentalist groups and spokespersons over the last few years:
AIDS = Punishment from God for being a homosexual Floods = Punishment from God for riverboat casinos Disabled kids = Punishment from God for abortion Dead troops = Punishment from God for tolerating homosexuality 9/11, Bad economy = Punishment from God for removing Him from government and classrooms Katrina = Punishment from God for abortion and sinful behavior in New Orleans Oil spill = Punishment from God for not enough faithfulness President Obama = Punishment from God for turning away from Christian principals Jamaican drought = Punishment from God for backsliding on Christianity
Ohio Jesus statue destroyed by lightning =????
So far I’ve heard the devil did this one. Can anyone explain this?

+1 with Willow. None of that stuff meets the definition of Christian, which, by the way, isn't restricted to the so-called Right Wing. There are enough nut-jobs around to cover just about any situation, so when you hear such junk....ignore it.

Sounds like the people you listened to need to actually READ and UNDERSTAND the Bible BEFORE they try to teach anybody anything!

Bobbo I have no doubt that there has been some self proclaimed Christian fundamentalist that has made some or all of these claims at some point in time. However more likely than not, he or she probably also claims to be pregnant with the child of Elvis' ghost (who by the way lives just down the road at the Freebird Trailer Park). I am assuming that you were just having some fun with us and aren't really trying to resolve these outrageous statements to matters of fact. If you were serious, then please take some friendly, humble advise and don't spend too much more time worrying about it!!! These lunatics usually fade away without doing much damage...or if we are fortunate enough to hit the 2500 year cycle of the Hale-Bopp Comet......sometimes the problem resolves itself sooner rather than later. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heaven%27s_Gate_%28religious_group%29

Overall, I'd say they were using "GOD" to explain things which they did not understand as folks have been doing for ages.
