Hi everyone.  I've been lurking here for a bit and finally got my account all set up.  I purchased my '98 Valkyrie about a month ago and I can't get enough of it!  I've already got a big road trip lined up for August, and I just dying of anticipation at this point.

So I just wanted to say hello and prepare you for the onslaught of newbie questions sure to come your way in the coming weeks.   Roll Eyes

Let's see if I can post a picture:

With Cobra's?

Welcome aboard.  I'm rather fond of that color scheme, too.

This is my wife's bike:

Where in PA?  From the looks of the buildings in your photo, I'd guess eastern PA.  I'm in southwestern PA about 20 miles south of Pittsburgh.

Welcome aboard! cooldude

Come on down and we'll show you the Dragon.

US 129 and the Devil's Triangle, and the Cherohala Skyway and our end of the Blue Ridge parkway,

and all around the Smoky Mountian National Park, and a lot of Dams Lakes and Streams

and Water Falls that are beautiful.

you need to move here I think.Great Bikes , insanely good curves, custom bikes.

Yes... welcome aboard ValkMJ.  Also from Western PA here.... Thunder in the Valley in Johnstown is next weekend, will we see you there??

Bob you think Eastern Pa eh??   Ya know... that picture kinda looks like an area out by Greensburg or even Central Pa (York or Gettysburg area)... it's been awhile since I have been out far east towards Philly....    Will be interesting to find out what part of PA....

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.   Smiley

Bob wins the prize.  That picture is from my office in Eastern PA.  I live north of Philly and south of Allentown.  That's quite amazing that you were able to pinpoint the area just based on that photo.  cooldude

Ooh, that is tempting.  Google says it's a little over 4 hours away, so I'm going to have to check my availability.  What days are you planning going?

The guy I bought it from didn't ride it much.  It's gotten much more "lived in" since I took that picture.   Wink

Dang it Bob.... you won.   cooldude  OH well.    Sad

As for Thunder in The Valley.... I will probably go Friday and Saturday. I think we have a little group going each day.   I will tell you that it is always a well attended event, riders and vendors alike.

From Central PA and very close to Thunder in the Valley. Usually head over for a day or two. Johnstown is located about 70 miles east of Pittsburgh and is accessible from state routes 219, 56, 403, 22, and 271. Nice view of the city from the inclined plane. You can even take you bike for a ride on it.  Smiley

Not affiliated, sponsored by Abate I think, but also check out Green House Park if you go. Greenhouse Park is located on Route 403. It's a little out of the city. If you get to Thunder someone can direct you there. Best later in the day. There is a small stone bar called Scooter's on the right as you go out to Green House Park. Most usually pitstop there and stand out front to listen to music and watch all the bikes heading out to Green House Park.

Wheels and Wings kicks off Thunder Thursday night the 24th in downtown Ebensburg. Ebensburg is just up the road from Johnstown on 219. Car show and good food. Last year I think 15,000 attended just that night. ALso, they started having camping at the Ebensburg fairgrounds. Turns into a little city at the fairgrounds. Some info on Thunder can be found at:

I lived out there for about 6 years (1995 to 2000) in Macungie, just outside of Allentown.  I don't know where it's at, but that building in the background looks familiar to me.  That's why I guessed east.  Cheesy

I summer in scenic Indiana, PA which puts me close enough to hit a few days of the Johnstown rally. I rode in last night for the light parade, Mini-Kiss, and supper on opening night with Dino.  He's going back today, while I'm stuck by the computer trying to write a paper. We'll be going back tomorrow for a charity poker run to support firemen training.
This is a great state to ride in.
Ride safe.
