I don't think it is very funny at all.  I'm from the Gulf Coast and the federal government is part of the problem.  What we need out of Obama and his bunch is a helluva lot less talk and a lot more action like a blanket Jones Act waiver so we can get foreign flagged skimmers in here now not sit around with their thumbs up their behinds like Coastie Admiral Allen is doing stating no one has asked for one.  Be proactive and get ahead of the ball.   tickedoff

An Australian take on the BP Gulf oil spillpowered by Aeva

This just about covers it.

Strange way to look at it but typical.

August is coming and I can't wait for the Spill to be over with.

P. S. Hold that thought, the CEO of BP has to take time off to go to a sail boat race in Great Britain. Put everything on hold.

So far, BP and the Feds have proven one thing for sure, and that is they are both very much alike.......completely inept.  Angry

Help from around the World was offered and all of it was turned down.

They are not woking in the best interest of the American people.

The Jones Act, that can be waved in an emergency.

Great Scott we are in for it aren't we.

AL, you nailed it with this one statement.  I get yelled at a lot for saying it, but this new "change" administration cares only about one thing...MONEY......where to get more, how to make sure it goes to the right people, make sure the back room deals get paid off first so political capital is built up and everyone owes a favor.  "president" Obama appears to dislike very much the entire American way of life and the bedrock American principles this country was founded upon (I mean, hes trying to change them all).  If he is allowed to continue, all of our national problems will go the way of the gulf oil spill.....bigger and uglier

I had to laugh watching the Senate Committee attacking the BP head, like our govt. has been running anything any better than BP. Plus the money BP will be using to clean this up was earned instead of the Govt. system of borrowing it from China. I honestly don't know why folks are beating up on anyone taking a day off though, it's not like everybody else dropped their tools and stopped working too. Presidents take time off during wartime, I have no problem with that. I expect them to lead, not shovel-THAT's what has me disgusted!.

When we get away and play we are more apt to be creative when we get back to the task.

and think to ourselves , why did I not think of that in the first place.

you have to step back to see the whole picture sometimes.

So not mad at ole Tony at all.

But my God this is a major screw up of magnitiude I have never seen.

What will we do.

Relief wells are notorious for missing the first few times and I think and we will hear soon

that they missed(I HOPE NOT) and anohter relief well is on the way.

Patiance is running thin.

Here is the deal the way I see it, it is not what you say it is how you say it. I understand we all get overwhelmed from time to time.  The way I interpet it  the way the CEO of BP is we are infringing on his life.  This is the worst oil spill disaster in history and it is in our backyard and they look at it as we are annoying them. Many people are gong to loose there way of life, animals will die, sea food will be uneatable and even if they were able to clean most of it up, our environment will be ruined for generations.  Why didn't our government make sure they had adequate safeguards in place.  If you have the slightest idea of the concept of the ripple effect the bottom line is when everybody is done tap dancing we are going to have to pay for it.  Oh did I say we were dumping 5,000 barrels a day I meant 100,000 barrels a day.  And the boys in Britain will be eating shrimp cocktail and drinking tea at our expense.

I think we can agree to disagree. I'm not defending BP in the least. As far as paying for it, of course we will. Consumers pay for everything, including every mistake ever made by politicians. In the long run, I honestly believe the current President of the US will do more and longer lasting damage to this country by his activities than the president of BP will through inactivity. JM.02

The truth is I don't disagree with you at all. It just seems that it starts with this type of attitude and these people slid by because our government lets them go and we write it off.  I am just looking at the combined screw ups and seeing an other nail in our social coffin and watch our way of life disappear.

Oh did China put antifreeze in your dog food , tooth paste and baby formula. Sorry about that !!

Also sorry about the lead in the paint on the toys.

Oh are we financially leveraged out to  China.  Whoops !!

Oh did Toyota forget to mention about the gas peddle issue and people have died. Did we forget to mention the issue to you !!!

Bottom line is the rug is being pulled form under us.

Well sure Jeff, Obama has to take lots of time off.  Can you imagine how stressful this job is on him, I mean he has no experience, none of the leadership abilities necessary to command ANYTHING and he cant just intimidate that oil to stop leaking so hes at his wits end, he has no idea what to do.  Wink

We are so used to letting the government take care of us; EMA, FEMA, Homeland Security, etc. etc. Where are the governors of these states? Take command. Heck, if we have a semi truck wreck and it spills 50 gallons of fuel, the local EMA kicks into action. They take over  send out a backhoe and dump truck to scoop up all the contaminated soil but first they'll stop the leak. I'd own BP before this is over, but first things first. Stop the leak, it can be done.

Oh yeah. Let's keep blaming Obama. Wonder how the party of "drill baby drill." would have handled it. Less regulation, less oversite.
I'm just curious that there are no AMERICAN companies capable of getting the oil out of the gulf? Why the heck are so many of the rigs owned by BP and Hybernia. How much of Exxon stock is owned by Americans? We're surprised that british pensioners are more worried about BP stock prices than Louisiana fishermen?
It looks to me like we don't own anything, or have the ability to make anything. I hear people complain that this country is weak based on not blowing enough stuff up in Iraq or Afganistan. My concern is that outside forces could bring us to our knees by just shutting off the spigot. If Asia stopps making our electronics for us, and the UK stops drilling our oil for us, we'll come screeching to a dead halt.
It's not tree huggers or commies who buy stock in American companies, run them at redline for two quarters and then sell the stock to foreigners in the third quarter. (And most of those folks aren't Democrats either.)
I don't care what party they belong too.  I just long for the day when business people OWNED the damn companies they ran and wanted them to be successful so they could give them to their kids. I long for the day when the term business man refereed to somebody running a factory, not a wall street broker or investment banker.
