Ok, here is the deal. I'm going riding in the smokys in a couple of weeks and I'm thinking some type of helmet camera would be cool. Problem is I know nothing about them. Wondering if anyone out there can give me some idea of what's the best set up to go with without spending a king's ransom.

I have an older (3 megapixel) gopro camera... they're five megapixel now...

Pretty cheap, takes pictures and video, I've clamped and stuck it a bunch of different places
on my bike...

I got a cheap ($5 IIRC) bicycle camera mount from eBay that fits on 1" bars and just use my normal digital camera on it. Takes videos or stills. Have a look at these examples (scroll down to entry for 7th February). I put a photo of the mount in a post a few months ago if you do a search of the forum I'm sure you'll find it.

If you go to the Arizona board and send a message to Michael K, he has a video set up. I have seen several of his films and they turned out very well.

Just don't get one of the hard disk cameras.  The rough roads will keep the camera from recording.  Don't ask me how I know this...  Smiley
