I have two options, Scalarider Teamset with bluetooth and Kuryakyn The Sound of Chrome speakers.

I use the ER-6 noise isolation earphones, the are about $75 on ebay.  I used to use an ipod, am now using a Nuvi 750 with an mp3 card. I like the fact that the earphones keep the wind noise down to the point where I don't have to change the volume hardly at all when I get on the interstate. The new ipod shuffle, with the cord-mounted control looks like it would be a good choice for someone wanting occasional tunes. I always hated earbuds, but the ER-6s come with a foam insert that is very comfortable for me.

When I got Valk, it had 2bros 6x6 pipes on it.  One of the first things I did was buy molded earplugs and a pair of BE 1C molded earbuds from Big Ear.  http://www.bigearinc.com/Products/BE-1C.aspx  I could still hear sirens and horns, but the pipes were muffled to the point I could tell the engine was running, but there was no headache after a ride.  With the earbuds, it was the same story, except that instead of engine noise, it sounded like I was at the symphony.  I no longer have the loud pipes, but the earplugs work great while mowing the yard.
